Dear DuMuX users and developers, I am pleased to announce that we prepare a 3.0 release of DuMuX. The release will be a major version update (version 2 to version 3) and will contain many improvements and new features. Due to the major update, backwards-compatibility with the last release 2.12 cannot be assured. Starting with version 3.0.0 all minor version updates will be backward-compatible again with at least the last minor version.
Consider following dates in your development / commit strategy: == Soft feature freeze: 3rd Dec 2018 == - All major changes that should be included and are not yet commited should be announced. To this end open a merge request (even if it's an empty one) containing a detailed description. - Major changes not announced will be rejected after the soft freeze. == Hard feature freeze: 10th Dec 2018 == - All major changes must be committed before the hard feature freeze. - Invasive fixes which might break other code are only accepted after consultation with the release manager, small fixes are ok. - Try to get your bugs fixed, your tests included and your documentation written before the hard feature freeze. - Final internal reports from the management representatives what is finished and what must be dropped (we try to communicate it in the issue tracker on GitLab) == Final testing: 19th Dec 2018 == - No commits are allowed except these which are done by the release manager or which are explicitly authorization by the release manager. - Release candidate packages will be provided. - Tests on the various systems, compilers, with different settings are run. == DuMuX 3.0 release: 21st Dec 2018 == Thanks for sticking to the plan.
