So out of curiosity, I ask, who uses the default config? And if
not, what changes do you make (you can diff the default config
to mine, I use dmenu and some different shortcuts).
Maybe it would be time to rethink some values of the default
config, esp. some shortcuts?

I modified almost everything. I think default config needs more
examples of rules. Not all dwm users and wannabes are programmers and
have regex knowledge (or are noob programmers without regex skills,
like me). Also there should be note about XF86 keys.
My config is here:

It is not totally useless, but certain aps require it a lot for normal work
(blender, emacs).

LAlt really does interfere with a lot of applications and in my opinion
separating the modkey for wm operations and the modkey for application
operations has been a blessing for years (on different non-winkey

I think ALT is a good MODKEY. GUI Apps mostly use ALT to get up to the
menu bar, such as ALT+M to open the forMat menu. If ALT+M is mapped in
dwm (as it is for me), then I just use ALT+N to open the iNsert menu
next to forMat and
some modifications in my config.h:

#define SELBGCOLOR #579
#define SELFGCOLOR #eee
#define NORMBORDERCOLOR #234
#define SELBORDERCOLOR #579
#define MASTERH 680
Oh, another thing I do:
#define FLOATSYMBOL FLOAT
#define TILESYMBOL
