Hellofriends,

I have received requests to try some of the “new and exotic” modes on
Shortwave Radiogram. Accordingly, this weekend, we will transmit one news item
in Thor 22. Thor 22 is not an especially new mode, but its ability to send and
receive images is new. You will need a newer version of Fldigi -- I used
3.23.30.

The Thor 22RSID will be transmitted. After that, there will be five seconds of
silence, in case you need to set the mode manually. When the image is
transmitted, a window will open. When the transmission of the image is
completed, click the Save button. That will place the decoded Thor 22 image in
the same folder where your MFSK32 images are deposited -- \fldigi.files\images\

Using TIVAR on an Android device, the Thor 22 text will decode if Thor 22 is
added to the mode list. Unfortunately, TIVAR cannot, in its present
version,decode Thor 22 images.

By the way,I sometimes see THOR (all capital letters) and sometimes Thor (only
the first letter capitalized). I don’t know which is correct. If THOR is an
acronym, it should be all caps.

Most of this weekend’s Shortwave Radiogram will be in the usual MFSK32 mode.
Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 16,7-8 October 2017, all in
MFSK32 except where noted:

1:38 Program preview
2:45 Nobel prize in chemistry*
8:56 BBC expands its services to India*
18:47 Thor 22: 60th anniversary of Sputnik*
