It also does not surprise me. So many SW stations have shut down. Many
can stream the service anyway. Where we used to have SW stations like
the BBC, now we have BBC World on cable, satellite, & streaming. We
used to have Radio Moscow, now the TV Service Russia Today, DW, now
DWTV, and the list goes on. TRT (Turkey) just launched their 24/7
International News TV  that streams. Scratching and fading reception
from 40 years ago is now being replaced by crystal clear streaming,
often in HD and Stereo. Of course not all have access to streaming,
but a lot of the world does.

From Alaska, maybe it's more likely to hear one of the CBC stations in 
BC or in the NWT or the Yukon? CBC does carry BBC programming at times. 
They share a monarch, so why not newscasts as well.

[HCDX] 6160 CKZU CBC Regional service

They have been gone for a couple of weeks now after sounding like crap for
a month -

We may have heard the last of this little station from the West Coast.
I will check with my technical contacts at the CBC about its health and
wellness.

For those seeking LP (Low power) shortwave transmissions from Western
Canada -
CFVP on 6030 khz is very much still alive - and audible here today on the
Island.

but the Worldradio network between 1-5 am or thereabouts.

[HCDX] Exploring The Possibility Of An Alaskan DXpedition

I have the perfect location for one form the standpoint we are 200 miles
from the nearest operating AM station. My location is also 3-4ish miles
from the nearest power lines. There is no cell service out at my proposed
Dx'ing site so live updates would be impossible.

It is unfortunately cold, very very cold... -25-30 below on average right
now.

My boss knows of my intentions and is ok with me using the land a few miles
outside of Galena for this for a night or two.

We could get a tent and find a way to heat it but we'd need alot of
batteries to keep radios ad laptops running

I've got a place that can hold 3 people, in addition to me.. my 2nd bedroom
can hold 2 folks and the living room couch can hold 1 person.

No AM RF interference or overload, no electrical interference.. and
darkness after 4pm  in January, 430pm in February. All you'd need to do is
pay for the airfare to get here.There is plenty of room for antennas.

I really want to do this, but it'd be pretty hard for me to accomplish it
alone, I think.

A few Dx'ers have discussed this offlist but I'd really like to see it
happen.

Tässä pitäisi siis ehkä erottaa "ABC" ja "Radio Australia"?

Tähän suuntaan toki ollaan menossa laajemmaltikin. Mutta nuo digilähetykset 
sitten lopettavat ajan kuluessa tämän DX-kuunteluharrasteen - oletteko muuten 
koskaan esim. kuulleet pätkimätöntä ja hyvin kuuluvaa DRM-lähetystä? Nämä uudet 
mutta liian monimutkaiset lähetteet kun vain eivät "toimi" HF-alueilla. DAB+ 
lähetyksillähän nämäkin aiotaan korvata - mutta eivät taatusti kuulu tänne 
Suomeen.

Eteläisen Suomen maapisteiden keräilijöille - jos semmoisia enää on edes 
olemassa:) - ainoa uuden helpon maapisteen lähde on sitten jatkossa Reach 
Beyond Australia, joka tänä vuonna otti käyttöön kolmannen SW lähettimen.

Asema kuuluu Suomessa erinomaisesti.
