Re: [DX-CHAT] Contribute to 7O6T
The writeup on their web page isn't very clear, but I went through it and here's what happens: Start at http://www.yemen2012.com/log.php and enter your callsign. You'll get the chart showing where the contacts have been made, along with a button below that to Request QSL Click on that, then fill in the QSO details for each QSO. (Note: If you're a registered Clublog user and have logged in there and you've already uploaded your log, Clublog will pre-populate the QSO data for you.) I don't have the exact steps because I've already requested my cards and Clublog is smart enough to know that, but what happens is that you submit the form with the QSO data, then it calculates the charges and provides room for you to enter an optional additional donation. After submitting that form, it will take you to the Paypal site, where you can log in. ( I believe there's also a process to use Paypal without logging in.) Each QSO is listed individually with the detail as part of your order, so you can double-check the QSO data there. At that point, you process the payment and you're done. It sounds like a lot of steps, but in practice it's very easy, and you can walk all the way through it just prior to submitting the payment via PayPal if you want to see how it works. 73, David, K2DBK k2dbk.com k2dbk.blogspot.com twitter: @k2dbk On Tue, May 22, 2012 at 12:35 PM, JIM Abercrombie 4...@prtcnet.com wrote: On their webpage it says you can donate via paypal, but it does not say to whom we are supposed to donate. [DX-CHAT] Costa Rica licensing
I'm going to be on vacation in Costa Rica in July for a week and I was wondering if anyone has any information about licensing beyond what's here: http://www.qsl.net/oh2mcn/ti.htm? While I would like to get on the air, my trip is a vacation with friends and we're staying about a 5 or 6 hour drive (each way) from San Jose (we're flying into and out of Liberia) and I didn't want to give up a whole day just to get the license. On top of that, other than knowing how to ask for a beer and a few other essentials, my Spanish is non-existent. From what the web page says, that might be a problem. I was wondering if anyone knows if perhaps it's now possible ot get licensed via mail or the Internet? If not, I guess I'll just have to take a pass this time. 73, David, K2DBK k2dbk.com k2dbk.blogspot.com --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list. [DX-CHAT] Websites, logs, etc. for PJ operations
Hi, I hope this is appropriate for this list: I wanted to pass on that I've created a web page that lists all the websites, logs, and similar information I could find about the ongoing operations for the new PJ entities. The list doesn't contain qrz.com links for any of the operations, and I've not included websites that belong to the operators of the DXpedition unless it contains information specific to the operation. There are plenty of other sites that list the operations themselves (I recommend ng3k.com), but I thought this this list would come in handy. The page is at http://k2dbk.blogspot.com/p/websites-for-101010-operations-from-pj2.html and I'd be more than happy to update it with any additional information that anyone might have. Re: [DX-CHAT] QRZ.COM down?
It would appear that their nameservers (ns1.qrz.com and ns2.qrz.com) are unreachable. A nameserver is like an Internet address book: You say What is the address of qrz.com and it will respond with an address (an IP address) which in turn tells your computer, and all of those pieces of the Internet between you and qrz.com where it is (and, to some extent, how to get there). The problem is if you can't get to the address book, you can't find the address, meaning you can't get to the site. My guess is that both of their nameservers are located in the same place, so if they are having a network connectivity issue, or a power problem, or something similar, you won't be able to get to either one. Good Internet practice is to have one of the minimum of two nameservers located in a different location to prevent just such an issue, but for practical reasons, it's not always possible, especially for smaller sites. [DX-CHAT] Operating from the Cayman Islands
Hello all, I'm planning on doing a little vacation style operating from Grand Cayman this summer while on a trip there with my XYL and some (non-ham) friends. I'm working on getting my ZF2 license (and trying to be patient, while remembering that things move a lot more slowly in the islands), but the one thing that I haven't been able to get information about is what are the operating regulations for the Caymans. (In other words, the Caymanian equivalent of the FCC Part 97 rules.) When I heard back from the licensing authority (ICTA), they basically said that they were pretty new at licensing (I think that it used to be done by Cable Wireless ?) and referred me to Andrew, ZF1EJ for additional information. As of yet, I haven't been able to contact Andrew, so I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding the operating rules for Cayman? Re: [DX-CHAT] N8S-IMPORTANT
Just an educated guess (I work in the IT field), but the up and down nature of the log website looks like it's probably running into a capacity issue. When too many users try to connect, it refuses connections, but after a while, enough users are off the server that it will start running again. If you get an error trying to access the logs, I'd suggesting waiting a few minutes and trying again. (Don't just reload the page over and over, that will just make things worse.) Good luck.
