Re: [DX-CHAT] VHF/UHF

Hey Ron, you win the prize. That KL7 (sorry I don't have his callsign handy)
was definitely in OK 5-Land. When I saw it posted on the cluster I got
excited till the qrz window popped up and gave his QTH as Oklahoma. S,
to Tony and the Chattanooga Old Timers, you need to change that FD log. It
definitely was NOT Alaska. Sorry! Actually cx on 6 were better three
weekends ago. It was ok during the ARRL QSO party and mostly mediocre during
FD. I've worked 61 grids this E-skip season so it is a bit of an improvement
over last year.

Take care all and 73,

 Tony,

I hate to burst your bubble, but the KL7 that we worked on 6 meters from
N3SH Saturday night gave his section as Oklahoma, if I'm remembering
 correctly.

OTOH, if our 6 meter op copied the section wrong (and now I hope he did!)
that is indeed an impressive opening!

 Hi Rod,
We snagged KL7 (Alaska) on 6 meters from our FD station (northwest
 Georgia)
on Saturday evening. We were running the IC7000 and a 5 el Yagi on a push
up pole. Ten meters was also very good at 11PM our time. 73

Boy bet it is a good day for 6 meters and up. Here in my ham shack on
 the
southern Oregon coast I am hearing the Canadian Coast Guard on channel 16
on Vancouver Island... That is a good haul.

Re: [DX-CHAT] VHF/UHF

2006-06-26 Thread Zack Widup

Six was spotty on and off at our FD QTH over the weekend. Saturday was
better, with quite a few QSO's to the east, mostly New England.

Later in the evening it shifted to the southeast and then to Texas.
Saturday night I worked 40 CW. We were using the call K9CU.

Sunday morning 6 opened to Texas again and a little further (worked an XE2
also). Then it shifted to the southeast - Florida, the Carolinas,
Virginia. BTW I love the phonetics W5HCT was using on Field Day - Whiskey
Five Here Comes Texas.

The opening two weeks earlier in the VHF contest was better. I worked 55
grids in that one. And the opening on 21 May was even better. I worked an
additional 15 grids then that I didn't work in the contest. So it has
been a good year for 6 meters so far.

I missed out on the openings to Japan and EU on 6 that occurred in between
21 May and 10 June. Grrr!
