VARICK Street, NYC, 1983. A woman (Frau Blücher
type) gave me my CW exam, which I somehow passed,
followed by the General written test, which I
also passed. I recall that there were, at most,
10 people in the room. Later on I also sat for my
Advanced at the same place. Seeing as how I
actually WORKED downtown, it was no big deal to
go there.
Radio Row (Cortlandt Street) was still there when
I started working on Wall Street in 1967. It
vanished when the WTC construction started.
Although I wasn't a ham then, I remember it well.
BTW, and OT, I'm still waiting for my Montenegro
card. Then I think I'll take a drive up to
Newington.
Like the photo of my tower and house in Jan QST
guys? (P. 21) I was amazed when I brought it up
on the web.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or
implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally
conscious, socially responsible, low stress,
non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the
winter solstice holiday, practiced within the
most enjoyable traditions of the religious
persuasion of your choice, or secular practices
of your choice, with respect for the
religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions
of others, or their choice not to practice
religious or secular traditions at all.
And a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling,
and medically uncomplicated recognition of the
onset of the generally accepted calendar year
2007, but not without due respect for the
calendars of choice of other cultures whose
contributions to society have helped make America
great, (not to imply that America is necessarily
greater than any other country or is the only
"AMERICA" in the Western Hemisphere), and without
regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical
ability, religious faith, choice of computer
platform, or sexual preference of the wishee.
