[DX-NEWS] 40m LP season opens to W6/W7

2002-09-17 Thread Sandy Lynch
After a long wait ... the 40 meter Long Path season between Europe and the west coast of the USA has finally begun. Jim - W6YA and I were able to work at least a couple of stations (i.e. RW3XW and RU3FM) a little after 14:00z today. I'm not claiming to having made the first LP QSOs by anybody

Sandy: Great to hear the LP season has started, and interesting historical data. Later in the season around late December/January it is very interesting when we get dual quasi-short path and true long path propagation together. Last year some soundfiles were recorded at VE6WZ of this multipath

[DX-NEWS] 40m LP season ...correction a query

2002-09-17 Thread Sandy Lynch
Oops .. just realized that I got the date info wrong on the 40m LP QSOs .. the QSOs today should have read 09-17-02 (not the 16th). BTW, I'm curious ... does anybody have the WWV solar indices for the previous years' QSOs? Or perhaps could show me where to find the info? Thanks and regards,

Sandy: Try here. ftp://ftp.sec.noaa.gov/pub/indices/old_indices/ Gives high/mid K as well as A indices for each day and month. The DGD.txt files are probably best. I'm sure there are other sites too. de steve VE6WZ - Original Message - From: Sandy Lynch [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: DX-News

[DX-NEWS] VU7ACJ or XU7ACJ?

2002-09-17 Thread Sandy Lynch
Before we get all excited that VU7 may have returned to the air I suggest that it is more than likely that the spot for VU7ACJ was merely a typographical error. Actually, it can be seen on DX Summit that a certain S51GI spotted VU7ACJ on 21270 at 1344z ... followed by a spot at 1420z for
