Title:
Multi-monitor: Mousepointer hangs when passing between monitors,
although no Launcher is there (regression)

Status in Unity:
  Fix Released
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  [How to reproduce]

  1. Have a dual screen left-right config, with the Launcher just visible on
your main (left) monitor
  2. Make your mousepointer move between first and second display multiple times

  [What you would expect]

You should feel no barrier when doing that, as there is no Launcher on
  the right screen.

  [What actually happens]

The mousepointer sometimes hangs, when moving between those screens (both
directions are
  affected, left-right right-left).

Note: It always hangs once you stay longer than 1 second on each monitor.
It also starts blocking after one second if you move between your
screens rapidly.

  Workaround (without hacking the code):
Edit unityshell.xml (best copy it to ~/.compiz-1/metadata) and change
edge_passed_disabled_ms default and max settings to 9, which
means your
pointer will hang once in 250 hours/once every 10 days after the barrier has
been broken.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1317187] [NEW] unity launcher 'auto-hide' gets pointer stuck between screens

2014-05-07 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Similar to #1095854 and #970038 (and quite possibly the same bug?), when
'auto-hide' is enabled, if I try to move my pointer to the left hand of
my first screen(ie where the launcher is), it only comes up sometimes,
and very haphazardly, whereas(and here's the bug:) if I move towards the
right(ie towards the other monitor) it usually gets 'stuck' at the edges
of the two monitors. Sometimes the pointer is allowed to go through,
and I can 'force' it back to the correct screen by alt-tabbing to a
window on the correct monitor, and then alt-space - move.

Turning off the launcher auto-hide option makes this symptom disappear
immediately.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1433074] [NEW] unity pointer vertically off where click occurs on login

2015-03-17 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Attempted to log in via unity ( unity8-desktop-session-mir
1.0.12+15.04.2 ) option via lightdm, and was presented with a Welcome
to your new phone (odd since this isn't a phone - it's a laptop, but
whatever) menu asking to select a language -- but the screen was off
center on my monitor, and (worse) attempts to click on the menu resulted
in clicks happening maybe 20-30 pixels below where the pointer was
located. This rendered that particular menu unusable.

going into eog, and selecting 'image gallery' from the drop down menu. (Image

  Workaround:
moved .config/dconf to a backup directory (contents attached), and restarted:
while at least the kern.log logs keep coming, at least they are coming like one
at a time over a long period of time rather than a million at a time, also
gnome-shell seems much more stable now (it hasn't crashed since I did this).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1633905] Re: xenial to yakkety upgrade : "Activated service 'ca.desrt.dconf' failed"

2016-10-22 Thread themusicgod1
Totem exhibits the same error message when trying to change audio in
preferences->audio->audio output type. (Coincidentally, there is no
audio in totem since upgrade).

I can trigger individual instances of these errors via gnome-control-
center, by going to

settings -> background -> pictures -> selecting my jpeg wallpaper ->
hitting 'select'.

Public bug reported:

Wherever hud-service is failing, it's trying to print using ncurses

example error message:
