Not quite correct...

When you create a backup using ALT-B, or the backup timer expires, it's written
to your DX4WIN installation directory (not the SAVE directory) as DX4WIN.DXB.
If there was previously a DX4WIN.DXB there, it is first renamed to DX4WIN.~XB

Similarly, when you save a log using ALT-S, if there was previously a
<CALL>.DXL file there, that file is first renamed to <CALL>.~XL. This is the
file that I think Terry was thinking of.

Performance is most likely the reason. Remember, DX4WIN was originally
developed on much slower computers than we have today. However, it might be
time to rethink this. My log has over 60K QSOs and ALT-S saves almost
instantaneously on a 933 MHz P3 computer with adequate RAM and hard disk space.
It might be interesting to hear from others who have upwards of 200K or more
QSOs in their log.

Subject: [Dx4win] What's up with Release 9 of country database?
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi Folks,

Work is continuing on Release 9 of the country database. I still have about a
week's worth of work to do on the QSL manager part. This is work going back to
last February that just kind of "stopped" but now needs to be finished.

The callsign to country mapping database was last changed on June 20:

  http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win/history.htm

But I have some new entries that will be added before the release is done.

I hope to get something released the weekend of July 17/18. Sorry it has taken
so long.

Subject: [Dx4win] SWL Labels - Mode Errors
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I posted this awhile back but heard nothing.

When I Print SWL Labels, random labels
show RTTY as the mode although I have
no RTTY QSOs in my log. Any ideas?

This has been true since one of the v5 revs
and is still true in 6.03 for me.
