[Dx4win] Laptop upgrade XP SP3 to Win7

2014-06-11 Thread Andy Hewitt
Hi a bit of advice please.
I am in the process of retiring an old PC used when travelling and operating
from XE.
I have DX4win uploaded and running as well as CCUser cluster software connected
to VE7CC-1. I have transferred all (I think) of the setting from one laptop to
the other but when DX4Win will not see the data from CCUser. From the drop down
menu in the Packet window I select LOCALCC User,localhost:7300 but nothing
happens.I have also tried connecting directly to a local node with the same
result.

The new laptop is 64 bit.

Re: [Dx4win] Laptop upgrade XP SP3 to Win7

2014-06-11 Thread andyphewitt
Hi Wes,
Thanks for the advice, I actually did a fresh install of DX4win but copied
over the .ini file and the SAVE directory then the licence key. Everything
works, I think, although I have not yet connected it up to a rig, except the
DX4Win internet connection. I have a good internet connection from the new
laptop as the email client is working and CCUser is downloading spots OK. If
I can't get is to work I will transfer the complete DX4Win directory over as
you suggest. I did not want to try that initially as the old laptop is a
WinXP machine and the new one is Win7 and the files now have to go in the
root directory a and not into PROGRAM FILES, that concerned me.

You say transfer all settings

One thing to keep in mind about DX4WIN is that you can simply move the
entire DX4WIN directory (folder) to just about any location you want to
(including moving to another computer) and the program will run as before.

You just have to be sure you have the same COM port numbers available on the
new computer and that you have the external cables plugged in correctly.

You should not have to transfer any settings.

Well I got Skimmer talking to Na3P, but now I am not able to use my CC

Re: [Dx4win] [LP-PAN] CW Skimmer

2014-06-11 Thread W9RPM
Pete, I know that I can put what ever I want in CW Skimmer for the Port,
but when I try and connect to local host in Na3P, it gives me an error
unless it is on 7300 in Skimmer. I use CC Cluster to connect with DX4WIN
because the DX4WIN keep alive function isn't very good. In order to use
CC Cluster with DX4WIN, I have to connect to Local Host:7300. So that
just connects me to Skimmer instead of the node I choose in CC Cluster.
I am trying to accomplish that, and my computer skills are
embarrassingly obvious here.

Re: [Dx4win] [LP-PAN] CW Skimmer

2014-06-11 Thread W9RPM
Rick, thanks VERY much. I didn't see that option in CC User. It runs so
flawless that I seldom pay attention to it. 73 John

Configure your copy of CCuser to use a different port, say 7373. Then
tell DX4WIN to use that port.

Pete, I know that I can put what ever I want in CW Skimmer for the
Port, but when I try and connect to local host in Na3P, it gives
me an error unless it is on 7300 in Skimmer. I use CC Cluster to
connect with DX4WIN because the DX4WIN keep alive function isn't
very good. In order to use CC Cluster with DX4WIN, I have to
connect to Local Host:7300. So that just connects me to Skimmer
instead of the node I choose in CC Cluster. I am trying to
accomplish that, and my computer skills are embarrassingly obvious
here.

Thanks, John W9RPM

You can reset the Skimmer Telnet port as you wish.

Well I got Skimmer talking to Na3P, but now I am not able
to use my CC User program with my DX4WIN, as it uses 7300
as the local host also. Must be some way that I can go
around this. Any help appreciated.

Hi John. You connect to CW Skimmer's Telnet server as
if it was any other DXCluster, except that you connect
to 127.0.0.1 (*this* computer), port 7300 (that is the
default). There is a discussion in the CW Skimmer
Help file of what commands it accepts (a very limited
set) and what they do.

Unfortunately, the NaP3 web site is still down, and so
far as I know the NaP3 Help file revision covering the
Spot display is not yet available. I need to know how
to reprogram the buttons and how to edit the cluster
list. I've been bumbling around trying to
reverse-engineer these functions, so far without success.

Has anyone else cracked the code?

Re: [Dx4win] edit telnet

2014-06-11 Thread Kostas SV1DPI
it's better to use the notepad to edit the dx4win.tcp file. You will
find this file in dx4win's save directory

Jim, I just needed to change the port to 7373 for the Local. I had the
TCP hid form the Save file because the damn window was resized small.
I got it taken care of. 73 John

Why do you need to? The Updater always gives you the latest list.
