[Dx4win] Canvas does not allow drawing

2004-05-20 Thread Donald Eriksen
Wow! And all I was trying to do was print QSL's. Tomorrow, I'll put my
logs back in the 6.02 folder and run .02 and see if I can print.

Thanks anyway, Don W6FFH

Msg 'Canvas does not allow drawing'

 Q:
What does the error message 'Canvas does not allow drawing' mean?

 A:
you may have run out of resources, which means a new DC cannot be
allocated. Usually this is a result of not freeing unused DCs or other
 objects
you are attempting to draw to an device context that is not yet valid.
Such as in the create constructor of a component.
you are trying to draw on a canvas while your last draw-operation has
not finished yet. In this case you can use Canvas.Lock or Canvas.TryLock
to
 fix it.

[Dx4win] 6.03 and Custom Award - TenTen

2004-05-20 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Carl,

I found this problem while in Dayton. with the following solution:

1. Clode dx4win
2. Use a text editor to edit dx4win.awd
3. In the bands for TenTen, put a single N in front of the Y
4. Save (in ASCII)
5. Start dx4win again

The enabled bands had to shift by one due to the inclusion of the 60M band.

There are more errors of this kind in the award file, but this solves
the TenTen award.

Paul

After upgrading, when I do a search via f8 for the custom award for the
TenTen award I get a listing of 10 meter QSOs in my Logbook screen. When I
select the menu items Reports and then Ten Ten under Custom, I get no
results.

The Award field for these QSOs says TenTen in the Logbook. Both the
Awdstrng and Awdvalue fields display the TenTen number.

Does anyone have any hints on how I can get the Reports Custom TenTen to
display the TenTen numbers?

[Dx4win] Ver 6.02 user guides at a Discount

2004-05-20 Thread Steve Bookout
Hello All,

Version 6.03 of the program AND users guide have been released and I find
that I have 4 copies of the version 6.02 users guides left.

The MAJOR difference is they don't include anything about electronic QSL
submissions (LotW.)

I am offering them for $9.00 each, shipped (US only.) This would normally
be $18.95, so this is less than half.

First come; first served.

[Dx4win] 6.03 woes

2004-05-20 Thread Donald Eriksen
Thanks Paul, The two items you mention were ok, and yes, I have Win 98. The
good news is everything works now!

I switched over to another printer (a Cannon BJC 5100, also an old parallel
printer), and labels printed fine. Went back to the HP DeskJet 500 and now
it works also. I have no idea why, I had re-started many times. I wish I
had tried the other printer before I started this thread!

Oh well, I gained a lot, thanks to Terry, WK0F for the suggestion of
cleaning out my Temp files, I had never done that and got rid of over 300 Mb
of junk. It didn't help the original problem, but it sure can't hurt.

Thanks all, Don

 Don,

 1. Check if the formatting of the QSL label makes sense.

 2. Reboot the computer and only start dx4win (you may be running out
of resources running Windows98 by chance?)

[Dx4win] Installation Tips

2004-05-20 Thread Wendell Wyly - W5FL
Jim (AD1C) has good tips for installation on his website:
http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win
Jim also did a fine job on updating the country file which is included with
the new 6.03 version of DX4WIN. It is so good that I would NOT merge your
old country file as that will only make it worse, not better. He has also
updated the QSL manager file, so that it is NOT necessary to merge the old
QSL managers.

[Dx4win] Using QRZ CD rom data from hard drive

2004-05-20 Thread Ernie Howard

Can anybody give me a pointer on how you use the QRZ CD ROM data when it
is installed on the hard drive? The QRZ program functions ok on the hard
drive.

My F3 lookup doesn't seem to work with it pointing to the 'data'
directory on the hard drive. It only works with the CD rom installed.

I have QRZ CDRom as the data source and the path pointing to:
C:\Program Files\QRZ Ham Radio\CALLBK\
Where the data is located.
