[Dx4win] Sort omissions

2006-02-17 Thread Garry Shapiro
This is a new one on me...

I decided to use F8 to sort 160m QSO's from 1Sep05 for the Lowband Monitor's
160 WAC award for this season. In examining the resultant listing I was
startled not to see listed three New Ones worked on 27Jan2006. In fact, the
listing showed none of the five topband QSO's logged that day nor an 80m QSO
but did display one other QSO logged that day (40m). The missing QSO's are
displayed in the whole log, but will not display using F8 no matter what
search criteria are used, including looking for the specific callsigns!

I have no idea if that date is unique in this regard or if I will find other
such instances. I have examined the individual entries and they appear to be
OK as to entered data.

Obviously, if F8 does not produce a complete listing of requested data, it
is worse than useless, and I am wondering how many of the cards I have sent
back labelled NIL may have really been in the log!

Can anyone offer some insight as to what may be happening here?

[Dx4win] Additional info on F8 problem

2006-02-17 Thread Garry Shapiro
Here is some additional information that may help shed some light on the F8
omission problem just reported.

I loaded a prior backup dated 6 Feb 2006 which sorts normally. After that
backup was created on that date as a precaution, I converted my Writelog
contest log from the CQ160 contest from 28 and 29 January to an ADIF file
using WL2DX4WIN.exe--a conversion app that includes State info in the ADIF.
I then imported the ADIF into DX4WIN and have since added more QSO's in
February.

When the ADIF was imported, there was one QSO in the log that was later
than the QSO's in the mported file, so the ADIF was not appended but
inserted into the pre-existing DX4WIN log file. One would think that this
should not make a difference--but perhaps it does.

It may make sense to make a copy of this prior backup, reimport the CQ160
contest and see what happens.

[Dx4win] LOTW vs DX4WIN Auditing

2006-02-17 Thread ARS NZ3O
Are there any utilities out there that will produce a report of
the differences between LOTW and DX4WIN results?

I'd love to get out of this labor-intensive activity of going through
and seeing which Mailed QSL's are unconfirmed on LOTW, and
which Confirmed or Submitted QSLs aren't reflected on LOTW.
And, of course, the LOTW credits that somehow aren't in DX4WIN.

This printing-two-copies-and-mark-them-with-ink is a bit of a pain.

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Friends:

I'm a frequent user of DX4WIN and Writelog interfaced by old lap tops with
COM ports ,sending CW by LPT1.
Some of those lap tops are in the end of its lives.
I have the intention to use newest version of lap tops, and all of them with
USB ports and some without a parallel port LPT.
I'm sure that several of you already faced this problem before and I kindly
ask your opinion on what is the best existent solution for it.
Thanks in advance
