[Dx4win] ORION with PSK31 and RTTY

2006-05-15 Thread Milan Gutter, OK1FM
Hi all,

This is my ORION file with RTTY and PSK31
for dx4win701 (dx4win702 will work too I believe).

For RTTY is necessary to set PBT=0 manually.

[MODES]
AM=4;4;N
CW=3,2;3,2;Y
FM=5;5;N
PACK=6;6;N
PSK31=;0;N
RTTY=6;6;N
SSB=1,0;1,0;N

I sold ORION few weeks ago but this setting worked OK.

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello all,

As I check my email this morning, I am finding that almost all of it
is from existing users that want the 'new' key for 7.02.

THERE IS NO NEW KEY FOR 7.02

Use the same key I provided you with 7.01.

If I sent the 7.01 program to you on a CD ROM, that is where you will
find the key file. It will be called 'yourcall'.key.
For those of you that got program via Internet download, use the same
key file I sent you as an email attachment when you purchased 7.01.
If you can not find it, there is a copy in your current 7.01
program. Look in the dx4w701 folder for this file. Move' or 'copy'
this file to the new installations' folder, which is C:\program
files\dx4w702 (by default.)

REAL IMPORTANT: Do yourself a BIG favor and copy the installation
file you downloaded from the web page to a CD ROM disk, zip drive or
USB drive. Point is, keep a copy on a safe place. In the future,
when your computer is replaced, or your HD fails, it is your
responsibility to have this program, not mine. If the program is no
longer on the home page, because that version has been superceded,
the only thing I can offer you is an upgrade to the then current version.

7.02 can not read the 7.01 DX4WIN.CFG file. You must export your preferences
to an .INI file for this version, then import them into 7.02.

Check your station and award band preferences. 33cm changed to 35cm. This
preference won't update properly, so it will need to fixed up manually.

[Dx4win] ADIF County Conversion Software 3.2

2006-05-15 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Version 3.2 of my ADIF County Conversion program is now available and
can be downloaded from:

http://software.ad1c.us/#County

This is a bug-fix release. Here are the release notes for this version:

* MDC is valid in INQP
* Support name field in TR (3rd party conversion)
* County abbreviations can be in lower or UPPER case
* No warning message for abbreviation DX
* Fixed problems incrementing QSO by 1 second
* Fixed an infinite loop if ADIF file already had valid CNTY field
* If the ADIF value is too long, stop before the next tag (bug in TR to
ADIF)

The next change I have planned is to be able to support multiple QSO
parties on the same weekend (i.e. NEQP, INQP, 7QP and MARAC CW).

Please report any bugs, suggestions for improvements, etc. to me
directly. Please spread the word on your logging and state QSO party
reflectors.

 Well I'm disappointed!

 The problem of the DX spots taking control of the entry window with NO
 rig control has NOT been fixed.

 Further more I have come up with a problem importing the
 lotwreport.adi usual procedure for importing an adi file then I choose
 Imported QSO sets Upload Confirm flag then I get this error message,

 An exception occurred! Access violation at address 005EADOE in module
 'dx4win.exe'. Read of address 01D85288

 I click OK nothing imported and DX4WIN appears to continue operating
 until you go to close then another error message.

 An exception occurred! Access violation at address 005EBOCE in module
 'dx4win.exe'. Read of address 01D89284

 Click OK, goes away till you try to close, again another error message!

 An exception occurred! Access violation at address in module
 'dx4win.exe'. Read of address

 This one repeats each time you try to close, only way to get the now
 broken program off your screen is Ctrl + Alt + Delete and tell windows
 that despite its warnings of doom to end the task anyway.

 I believe no data has been entered from the import process.

 Have I missed something here?

I also get similar exception errors when I try to import a LoTW ADIF report
into 7.02. I could not exit the program and had to terminate it with
Ctrl/Alt/Del end process. After reading N2TU's post about being able to
do a successful import the 2nd time, I tried importing the LoTW ADIF report
again. The import was successful. But when I tried to close the log file
after the successful 2nd import, 7.02 crashed again with more exception
errors and had to be terminated using the Ctrl/Alt/Del end process.

Paul, if you need the specific addresses of the access violations and read
errors, let me know, and I'll be glad to send them.

I do want to thank Paul for a number of the revisions in version 7.02, and
in particular adding more modes to various reports. And I particularly
appreciate his making the upgrade available at no charge.

Andy G3SVD

FYI Andy,
The Kenwood rig file when used with the TS950SDX has been a bit flaky since
Ver. 5, especially when selecting split frequency spots. I've spent more
time than I care to admit trying to get it to work correctly and
consistently to no avail. It seems to be affected by status of the A B
VFO's and if the Sub receiver was on or off prior to the clicking of the new
spot. It also never seemed to have the ability to shut down the sub receiver
when selecting a new spot, simplex in nature, if the sub receiver was
previously in use. As I recall, it always left the sub receiver frequency
where it was, in the mode it was, regardless of the new spot. At times? the
A B VFO's would set to the correct frequencies, but the B VFO mode would
not change.
This was just one of the frustrating issues that I couldn't seem to resolve,
nor get anyone's attention to act upon it, except for one other TS950SDX
user who is now a SK. The other issues of the implementation of the control
tab in ver 6 which no longer allowed you to select a COM port for PSK31 in
the PSK31 window, (as was the case in Ver 5) was the straw that broke the
camel's back for me to switch software. In Ver. 6, to change from CW mode,
(using the memories in the CW keyboard, using the same Com port as is used
for rig control), to PSK31 mode, (using a different Com port for PSK31 PTT)
required one to go into preferences and change the Com port selection as
well as the function of the Com port (CW Keyboard OR PSK31 PTT) and then
change these parameters back every time one changed modes between CW
PSK31, which was totally an unacceptable and time consuming process. What
were they thinking??
Version 5.03 and later Versions 6.xx were far too cumbersome for me, and
some others that operated both CW and PSK31 modes, and frequently switched
between the two modes. This information seems to have fallen on deaf ears as
it has been reported a number of times over the past 4 years or so with no
response or actions to remedy these things that once worked fine. I guess
those of us affected are in a minority or have switched to other software
that works better for us.
I paid for the upgrade to ver. 6 but found it not to be usable and the
inherent newly created bugs never addressed in the future maintenance
versions. I downloaded the ver. 7 trial and saw the same problems, while
still using ver. 5.02 at the time. Myself and a number of others did some
changes to other software last year. In all honesty, it's not perfect
either, but it was a step in the right direction for those who use both the
CW keyboard / memories as well as PSK31 with PTT control. Rotator control is
also easier with buttons rather than a pull down menu or using the
keyboard F11 / Cntrl F11. I may at some point try downloading the latest
ver. 7.02 demo, but doubt it will be worth the time as these issues have
apparently not been addressed, as there is no mention of them in the list of
changes.
Kudos to Jim-AD1C for all the time and efforts he has put forth towards
keeping DX4WIN databases current and accurate. Me thinks that without his
work, DX4WIN may no longer be around at all.
