I want to add 6 callsigns (YU8/ ) and of cause VP6DX. Any work arounds, or

The space is limited.

You can do one of two things:

- Create a new Kosovo DXCC entity and map YU8 to it (see my app. note
for an error-free process for creating a new entity).

- Just map the YU8 prefix to another entity you have NEVER worked.

Either way, those spots will come up Yellow.

The DXCC rules are very clear about when a political entity can be added
to the DXCC list:

http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/rules.html#sii

An Entity will be added to the DXCC List as a Political Entity if it
meets one or more of the following criteria:

a) The entity is a UN Member State.

b) The entity has been assigned a callsign prefix bloc by the ITU.

It WILL take at least one of these two events to occur in order for
Kosovo to be added to the list. At that time, I will release a new
DX4WIN country file, not before.

The fact that N7NG, OH2BH and W3UR are in Kosovo may be considered an
optimistic sign.

Hello all
What you list as criteria is right, but there are more, like the
inclusion in the US Department of State list of special sovereignty
territories, which allowed for FJ to become a new one.
For Kosovo to become a UN member will take time (Russia might veto it)
For Kosovo to get its own ITU prefix wuill take time (look at T9
supposed to be using E7 for quite a while already)
For Kosovo to be addeds to the above mentioned US DoS list may take time
(it took them 5 months for FJ)
So relax ! The present YU8 is only Serbia, until further notice

Hi All;

I maybe missed the point, but I really wonder what you guys are doing to even
think about running out of Group numbers.

I don't understand anyone's need really to group by year or by contest; since
you would still need to do a search operation (F8) to filter by Group. You
might as well do a search by date in that case. I use Groups in my main log
to differentiate from G3NKC and G3NKC/P, and I think I set up GQ3NKC - so call
sign variants.

For my GD contest operations, I currently hold separate logs for GD0EMG, MD6V,
and MD4K; even though I have been thinking about the merits of merging those
logs (might be nice to see a complete DXCC achievement, for instance); but I
often think these would be outweighed by the overhead when doing the QSLling
chores (when someone requests a card, I normally QSL all QSO's with our
particular contest call. I might end up selecting QSL's for all call's; meaning
I have 3 labels that would have to go on 3 cards). ON balance I think those
logs will stay separate.

I'm not sure how you allocate your group numbers. I started giving a number to

If you think the problem is caused by the telnet connection then why don't
you just not use any telnet and see what happens. You could use that
 OH2AQ
DX Cluster Internet site for spots, for example, without even bringing it
 up
 inside of DX4WIN.

 Hi,

For the last few months, I'm having a very intermittent problem where my
DX4WIN v6.03 hangs and sucks up 100% of my CPU until I kill it. Paul and
Steve apparently have no way of debugging this. Until today February 15,
 my
last hang was on January 22. Sometimes it takes that long, sometimes it
happens 2 times in 3 days. Totally unpredictable and very intermittent.

I have a hunch it has something to do with my telnet connection to the DX
Cluster. Any volunteers to start using the same telnet cluster as me to
 see
if you can reproduce the problem? I use KE2OI.dyndns.org:7300 I may
 switch
to another one not running DX Spider, to see if it goes away as well.

 Any volunteers appreciated!

You are right, there will be no parent. Then it NEEDS to meet either UN

probably take weeks then

I have seen a similar problem on my HP laptop after I tried to load Windows
while minimizing the HP-centric 'helper' programs that are usually loaded
at the same time. I have been meaning to reformat and load a non-HP
version of Windows to see if that cures the problem but have not done so
yet, since I only use the laptop with DX4WIN when traveling. I have been
told by a computer repair shop that trying to load Windows w/o the
computers supplier's self-serving programs usually causes problems.
The characteristics of the hangup are as you describe with the CPU's
 consumption of usage at 99-100%.

are not using the CT 17/ICOM interface but are using a USB cable/port. We

works with another log program perfectly and instantaneousely.

We keep trying DX4WIN but the results are unpredictable.

Sometimes you get the band/frequency information and sometimes you don't.

I keep trying and am waiting for a reply from technical support but thus far
no luck.

I've had a Pro-II connected to DX4WIN for years and have never had a problem.

Make sure that you have CI-V Transceive set to OFF on the Others
Set menu, because that can cause issues.

I personally have my rig set to a baud rate of 19200 and the CI-V
address set to 64h, and of course the settings match in DX4WIN.

Dave,

I primarily operate contests. Each contest I work is assigned a group number.
So using F8 and the Group Number I am able to isolate all the QSO's from a
particular contest.

One of the advantages of this is for QSL request when I am unable to find the
claimed contact by searching on the other station call sign. Then I am able to
at least narrow down the log to the contest and search through that.

There are many different reasons for not finding the call in my log, from
miscopied on my part or needing to decipher the call on the QSL call that was
used during the contests.

By narrowing the log down to the specific contest I have been successful in
either finding these contacts or verifying they definitely are not in the log.

Sure I could search by date and time, but those aren't always correct either.
Then if the request is from 15 years ago the search on time date will bring
up 15 years of contacts.

Hope this helps,
Bill
