Hi Paul...
I had mentioned this in the discussion we had on spot levels.
I realize it is by design... but my reasoning is as follows...
At present, if the spot is outside the filter zone it's grey. Correct.
If a spot arrives from inside the filter, indicating it is being heard
in the area of
Tom could not have expressed my exact sentiments any better. I have DX4Win
for many years and after each contest I merge my contest log into DX4Win
thus having every contact I have ever made in a single, easy to access log.
Prior to using DX4Win I wrote a logging program first in dBase II on a
In my opinion, I am not sure why Bill would want to create a group per
contest - unless it is to make a personalised message on his QSL card,
referring to the contest ?
I thought that contest logging programmes allowed such stuff to be recorded
in the notes for this QSO field ?

I use a Group per Contest in managing my log and NK7U's log. This allows me
to print a note on each card refering to each contest. For instance: Thanks
for QSO in 2009 ARRL DX SSB Contest. By using Group numbers the Group Name
is automatically applied to each QSO. And the Group number can be
Mel,
Now if another spot arrives withing a couple of minutes from outside the
geographic area it turns grey again... indicating it isn't being heard
in the area of interest? Wrong. It's probably still being heard.
Correct but if it would colored then it would be a BUG
A filter is a filter, no
Mel, try sorting spots by Arrival instead of by Time. Then both the
colored and gray spots will be in the Spots window.

You seem to miss the point completely Guy... perhaps you are confused by
the word bug in the subject which started the discussion...
We are not discussing a bug at this point, but whether it is desirable
for a grey spot to overwrite a colored spot. The issue doesn't arise
when the grey spots
That's true... but I actually prefer the way it works when sorting by
time... except for the alert color being overwritten. Most of the time
I have the grey spots filtered out so its usually not an issue... it's
only a minor inconvenience anyway.

I was trying to filter all records with cardboard confirmations...
I filtered on Cnfm=Y and records were selected where Cnfm=N
and Upl Cfm=Y
Is this the expected behaviour?

In your preferences, QSO tab, check the box regarding the confirmed
status : QSL in hand, LoTW or both...
You should check QSL in hand to get the result you are looking for...
By the way, there was a time when you could see both indications on the
confirmed column. I no longer see those Am
If you have your QSO prefs set to Card or Upload, then yes, that's
the way it works. Change it to Card in Hand.
I mentioned this to Paul a little while ago. I also think it should
work as you expected it to.

It is counter-intuitive...

Thanks Paul, that is good news.
I did read Jim's comments on limiting the amount of Groups used by
assigning each category of contests (ARRLDX, CQWWDX, etc) a Group number
then further sort/filter by the date. But I have already assigned many
years of contests their own Group name (2009
