[Dx4win] DX4WIN 8.03 + Linux?

2010-04-04 Thread giorgio borgo
Hi DX4WIN-users!

Did anyone make Version 8.03 of DX4WIN run under Linux?

I'm running DX4WIN 7.05.03 and it works fine. Just want to take a look
what's new on Version 8.03 maybe there will be a good reason to change
to this version, but I cannot make it run. I do not see dx4win.exe
starting up on system monitor

Any help is appreciated.

Vy 73 es cu in the pile! Giorgio, DJ9CW

System I'm using:

Pentium 3 / 512MB Ram

Ubuntu Linux 9.10
Kernel 2.6.31-20
Gnome 2.28.1

Wine V1.01

DX4WIN 7.05.03

8.03 needs updated DLLs - on Windows, this shows up as a failure of
the program to start up.

See the following link for a pointer to the Visual C library update;
perhaps installing this on your system will allow DX4WIN to work under
WINE.

[Dx4win] Double spots using Alt-A

2010-04-04 Thread Dave Hawes
Good day,

I'm just doing some casual operating in the SPDX Contest, and found an
unusual DX4WIN response. I'm not using Contest Mode. I fill in the QSO
data in the Entry Window, but before hitting Enter, I hit Alt-A which graps the
callsign from the Entry Window. So far so good. However, if I hit two quick
Enters, one to send the spot and one to log the QSO, two identical spots
are sent to the Cluster. If I pause after the first Enter, and wait for the
spot to
show up in the packet window, then hit the second Enter, only a single spot is
sent to the Cluster.

Yes, I know. If it hurts, don't do it. The work around is to pause between
Enters. However, what I'm seeing should not happen.

Also, I love the Band Map, but hate the way the frequency doesn't track
properly. I've reported this before.

Hi Dave,

Can you please confirm that you see BOTH SENT SPOTS in the bottom
portion of the Packet Window (the transmit part)? I tried, but could
not duplicate the problem using 8.03.

Re: [Dx4win] QTH in Version 8.03

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Ron,

I don't think Paul implemented that. And it would depend on which
callbook CD you are using and whether it exports the City separately
from the rest of of the QTH. RAC seems to work better for County than
QRZ from what I understand. You can still cut/paste.

Maybe Paul will add it to his list.
