Re: [Dx4win] FW: Printing Labels showing frequency

2013-10-12 Thread Dan Violette
Alan,

I don't think you can. The exact frequency ends up in the notes field if
you added the "$$" (so probably cannot be put on a label). There is the
setting in the QSO preference for MHZ instead of Band, but without trying, I
think it will just put 14 MHz instead of 20m and not the exact frequency if
it even does that on a label.

Subject: [Dx4win] FW: Printing Labels showing frequency

I posted this a month ago but no one replied. Anyone have any suggestions
please?

Subject: [Dx4win] Printing Labels showing frequency

I've been poking around various HELP topics but can't find an answer to
this.
I presently have my labels set up with small windows showing the following
QSO info:

DATE UTC BAND RST 2X

When I print the labels this info is filled in. Example:

 DATE UTC BAND RST 2X

15-SEP-2013 2156 14 MHZ 599 CW

Rather than just showing the band (14 MHZ) is there a way to show the exact
freq logged (14012.0)?

My contest loggers always show the exact freq I worked a station (ex:
14012.0) rather than just 14.000 or 14 MHZ. When I transfer my contest logs
(via ADIF) into DX4WIN the exact freq appears in my FREQ (KHZ) little box in
the main logging window after the download. I am now in the habit when I log
a regular every day QSO I fill in the exact freq in this same window. But
when I print the labels it will just print 14 MHZ.

TIA & 73

Alan, K7ACZ

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win wish list (In addition to xmmt.ocx)

2013-10-12 Thread Joe Subich, W4TV

My suggestion of how I like to log receive, transceive and transmit
frequencies has evolved over time, primarily in the age before
computer logging, when I wrote QSL cards out by hand and used
frequency rather than band.

Again, you are logging improperly. It may not matter to you as an
Amateur Extra class operator but to an Advanced/General it does.

The log, to the extent to which one chooses to maintain one today, is
the *legal record* of the station's transmissions. If a DX Station
transmitting at 14.024 and listening up works a General transmitting
at 14.026 and the General logs the frequency (which is defined in
the ADIF standard as "my transmitting frequency") he is logging an
*illegal transmission*.

Now, you may wish that DX4Win would print *your receive frequency*
on a QSL card - that's a completely different matter - but to LOG
the receive frequency as you do is completely contrary to every norm
(just like someone who wires the dit contact on their paddles to the
ring instead of the tip) for more than 80 years. I have some logs
from my wife's grandfather in which the transmit frequency was
logged - not the receive frequency.

To Joe, W4TV, I respectfully disagree. In 54
plus years of hamming I have found things that
work for me. My suggestion of how I like to log
receive, transceive and transmit frequencies
has evolved over time, primarily in the age
before computer logging, when I wrote QSL cards
out by hand and used frequency rather than band.
The DX station needs to see his transmit frequency
on my QSL, not mine, which he doesn't log anyway.
By doing receive/transceive frequency in one
column and my transmit frequency in a separate
column, I could always use the first frequency
column in filling out the card, regardless of
whether the QSO was simplex or split. I still
prefer that arrangement for browsing my logs --
I want to see the DX's frequency first.

I very well know the definition of QSX, but it
doesn't really have anything to do with how I
like to log QSO info. And it must be noted that
my transmit frequency is ALWAYS logged by this
method.

And to Mike, R3BM, thank you for jogging my
memory! I just had this nagging feeling that
there was something I was leaving out, and auto
connection to the cluster is it. Not just
reconnect after interruption, but automatically
connecting on DX4Win startup. I always use the
same node (unless it's down for some reason),
so DX4Win should at least to try to connect on
program startup. It is a real annoyance to have
to go through the connect sequence every time I
start an operating session (even though it is
just a mouse click, three presses of "Enter"
and a mouse click on my "Login" macro button).
My login macro issues an SH/DX/100 command to
immediately populate the Spots window, and it
would be nice if DX4Win did that as well. Both
DXLab and HRDeluxe automatically connect on
startup.

Support for two rotators would be nice for
those who are lucky enough to have two or more
towers. I have only one 40 foot tower, so that
feature wasn't on my list.

Well, guys... What do you think needs to be
added or fixed for the next release?

73,
Craig, K0CF

[Dx4win] RES: DX4WIN - time is money

2013-10-12 Thread py5eg
Hi folks

The DX4WIN is really a fantastic tool for all users.
As any other SW must be upgraded from time to time.
I'm noticing that DX4win enter in certain conflict with computer connection
with OM 2500 A for instance.
When you use this automatic control amplifier in connection with DX4win and K3
or Icom 7800 the program gets lazy.
Maybe a deeper study on the radio rig files would be useful.

2013-10-12 Thread Tibor M. Blum - IK2SAI -
I am on the air since 1991.
I am using dx4win since december 1997 (release 1.07 if i remember well).
I think that this software is just perfect.
My wish list is limited to an improvement of CAT.
I know that is a very hard job but in my opinion is the only part that can be
discussed.
I saw easy log. It gives a number of radio and a small customizable panel with
the preferred controls for each one.
I really don't need an HRD cat system but something more than what it is given
today.
That's all.

2013-10-12 Thread Kostas SV1DPI
Maybe I am silly because I reply to the same question a number of years
without response...

Anyway... I like to add to K0CF list, omnirig support.
This adds flexibility and solves a number of problems as
1. support for new radios (dx4win is also back on this),
2. co-operation with pst rotator (multiple rotors)...
and maybe others...
