Re: [Dx4win] Exporting log to LOTW

2020-03-23 Thread Alan Zack
Check out Jim, AD1C, excellent help page:
https://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/lotw.html

I always follow this when I do my LOTW uploads/downloads

Jim has other excellent programs such as:
https://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/contest.html
That I always use after a contest to add contest QSO's to DX4WIN.
Remember to use a new group number to identify one contest from
another.

We do not pay Jim enough for all his software support.

Subject: [Dx4win] Exporting log to LOTW

Hello all.

I am attempting to upload my entire log 13K plus qsos to LOTW. Many
were made and logged to DX4WIN before there was a LOTW.

I used the LOTW in DW4WIN to set all upload files to Y.

Then using TQSL I attempted to sign and upload all qsos to LOTW. The
program indicates that no qsos are signed and/or uploaded.

What am I missing.

Tnx in advance

Re: [Dx4win] Lost Contacts

2020-03-23 Thread Alan Zack
This sometimes happened to me when I do an ADIF contest log input to
LOTW and then download my latest updated LOTW QSO info back into
DX4WIN. What appeared to happen is after doing the LOTW
download/inputs my latest DXL file got saved into whatever contest
folder I took the contest ADIF from to do the excellent ADIF to DX4WIN
conversion provided by Jim AD1C.

My suggestion: do a windows search for your DXL file (in my case I
search for k7acz.dxl). You may find another DXL file lurking in
another folder someplace you did not suspect.

After working with LOTW I always go to FILE>SAVE AS and check to see
what folder my saved files are going to. If I see a contest folder or
some other folder shown in the SAVE IN window instead of SAVE I change
it back to SAVE as it should be.

A personal hint of what I do: If you want to do a quick back up of you
DXL file open FILE>SAVE AS and find your DXL file. Right click on the
DXL file (or any other you may want to save) and select SENT TO. You
can then send a copy of the file to a thumb drive, ext HD, etc.

Another hint: When I do my LOTW upload to the ARRL website I use the
same ADIF file that DX4WIN made for LOTW and import it to ClubLog,
eQSL, and my QRZ.COM logbook. Yes, I know DX4WIN will make an input
file for eQSL but I find my way faster and easier since I already have
an ADIF file to use.

Shelby,

Do you by chance have a second log where those QSOs could be hiding?

I have yet to see a case where QSOs disappeared for ever.
