[Dx4win] How much QSL manager data is useful?
Hi Jim First at all many thanks for all the work you are developing to keep the .CTY and Qsl Mgr... In my opinion if I don't get a qsl in the past 5 years... I don't care with all those old add. and mgrs. So the list could be shorter ( shorter means accurate). Forget all the mgrs more than 5 to 10 years Best regards and keep the excellent work Jim 73 de Jose CT1AOZ - Original Message - From: Jim Reisert AD1C [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, March 13, 2006 8:25 PM Subject: [Dx4win] How much QSL manager data is useful? Hi Folks, Before I started working on the DX4WIN QSL manager database, there were about 6,600 records. Today it's getting close to 30,000 records. Some people sent me their DX4WIN.CTY files so I could merge the data into the master file. Some of them had over 100,000 QSL manager records. I assume they loaded one of the databases like ON6DP or OZ7C (I think there was an Italian one floating around as well). I threw these records out. I tend not to trust the BIG databases because they tend to have a high error rate (on the order of 10%). I just did a little experiment with the ON6DP database: In my log of over 70,000 QSOs (going back to 1975), about 1/2 the DX (non-USA) QSOs (not calls) do not have QSL managers listed. If I remove the calls unlikely to have managers (i.e. fixed stations like G3, OH2, SM5, etc.), this reduces to 7,760 QSOs with possible unknown managers. I then assigned QSL managers from the ON6DP database, and found that 2,500 QSOs had managers listed that are NOT listed in the DX4WIN QSL manager database. What does all this mean? Based on my log alone, the database needs to grow another 10% in order to assign missing QSL managers to my log. Where is all this leading: - Do you want a large QSL manager database in DX4WIN or a smaller one? - Is quality or quantity more important? If you're unsure if the route is good, you could always look it up somewhere else? - Do you want only recent managers (i.e. going back to the last 10 years), or something that goes back 20 or 30 years or even more? - Do you not even care, because you use the GOLIST or QRZ.COM or another means for finding QSL manager information? Just some things to think about. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

[Dx4win] feature need
Hi Need a way to have an AUTO LOG ON to Internet connection. Maybe an option to enable this option. (Who wants, enable it. Who don't want leave it as it is now). It is very frustrating to have to connect step by step every time I open DX4WIN. Paul and Steve keep the good work... Ah!!! I'm one of that guys ho got a new license for version 7... 73 and hope to have this feature on next release hihi Jose CT1AOZ
[Dx4win] feature need
Jim and all Jim tks fer your answer but I think I'm not explain exactly what I really want. Sorry for the bandwidth... In N1MMLoggr we have an option to enable an AutoLogon to internet, and it works... That's exactly what I want... I don't want to click on any ''extra'' key of the key board... On any key... I want to click on DX4WIN icon ( .exe) and all the windows came up like a magic exactly as it happens with N1MMLogger... ( all windows and internet connation like a hell) please Guys don't start a war with this... and don't shoot rocks ... this is a serious ''feature need'' (for me of course)... I think this ''need'' request is a good feature for the DX4WIN ... Thanks guys have fun and good dx's... 73 de Jose CT1AOZ - Original Message - From: Jim Reisert AD1C [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Dick Flanagan [EMAIL PROTECTED]; DX4WIN List Server DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Sent: Sunday, June 05, 2005 3:33 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] feature need At 10:24 AM 6/5/2005, Dick Flanagan wrote: An alternative is to edit the dx4win.tcp file to move your favored site to the top of the list. Then all you have to do bring up the site list and click Connect; the first site is automatically selected. And it's even easier than that. At least in later versions of 6.0x (and of course 7.01), if you are not connected and type return, DX4WIN will tell you that you are not connected, then type return again (at the OK prompt) and the node list comes up. So three returns and you are connected. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
