[Dx4win] Events Calendar

2017-01-24 Thread John Unger
How can I get rid of the "Events Calendar" window that pops up when I
start DX4win?

Thanks - John, W4AU

Re: [Dx4win] Importing papar logs

2016-01-15 Thread John Unger

Hi Radi -

Randy, K5ZD, put me on to LM, by DL6WAA, when I volunteered to
transcribe paper logs for the WPX. It does a good job of streamlining
this task as much as possible, but it's still a time consuming job doing
it by hand like this...

You can export a file in a number of different formats.

Good Luck!

I started using DX4WIN from its first version and logged all contacts since up

Has anybody found a fast way to do it, like scanning, using OCR etc...How did
it work and how much time it takes per 1000 QSOs??

[Dx4win] convert cwops Cabrillo to adif for import to dx4win

2016-01-13 Thread John Unger
I have concatenated all of my Cabrillo logs from the cwops events in
2015 into one big Cabrillo file. I would like to convert this file to
adif for import into dx4win. The conversion programs that I have or can
find do not support the cwops Cabrillo file format.

I know I can go back to N1MM and create an adif file for each file
individually, but I would have to do this operation with over 40 files...

Does anyone know of a file conversion program that can deal with the
cwops format?

Thanks - John, W4AU

What CDROM are folks using for adding external data to QSO's that are

[Dx4win] Getting F3 data from CD - QSO

2009-09-02 Thread John Unger
I am using the Hamcall CD with Version 8 (but also had same problem with
earlier versions...)

After pressing the F3 key and bring up information from the CD OK, I'm
still having problems with getting the Update QSO button to actually put
the information into the QSO window. I'm not sure what is going on, any ideas?

[Dx4win] Moving Freq. info to new Freq field

2009-08-13 Thread John Unger
Maybe I've missed it, but is there a procedure in Version 8.01 to move
frequency information for the Notes for this QSO field to the new Freq
field? Or are folks just exporting to an ASCII file, editing, and re-importing?

[Dx4win] F3 and Update QSO button

2009-02-03 Thread John Unger
When a bring up a contact, either old or new, in the QSO window and hit F3
to open the Callsign /Mgr lookup window, DX4WIN goes to my CD callsign
database and put the information in the lookup window fine.

Somehow I expected the Update QSO button in the lookup window to copy the
address, etc., information into the Notes for this Call field in the QSO
window. This action doesn't occur. Is it supposed to? What does the Update
button actually update?

Re: [Dx4win] F3 and Update QSO button

2009-02-03 Thread John Unger
Hi Larry -

Thanks for the tip and information, but I must have an option somewhere not
set or something. For example, when I type your call into the callsign
field and then hit F3, all of your info is shown in the lookup window, but
absolutely nothing in the QSO window gets populated when I hit the update
button Still trying to figure out what's going on.

John,

Which fields get updated depends on what information is available in the
lookup window and what fields are already filled in the QSO window.

For example - using your callsign: Pressing Update QSO populates the
state, county, grid, and name fields. If any of those fields are already
populated, they are not overwritten.

Re: [Dx4win] dx4WIN and K3

2008-11-06 Thread John Unger

George -

I believe the most recent version(s) of DX4WIN have the K3 as a radio
selection. If you have an older version try choosing a Kenwood radio, like
the 850 or 2000.

[Dx4win] Where are the label data?

2007-03-28 Thread John Unger
Pete, N4ZR, graciously sent me a copy of his dx4win.lab file with his
Custom 1 and Custom 2 formats so that I could see how he had set up his
labels to print directly on QSL cards. I copied this file into the Save
directory (folder to you new folks...), but when I started up Dx4win and
looked at the Custom 1 and Custom 2 label formats, I did not see Pete's
formats but instead found only the default Custom 1 and Custom 2 formats.

Are the Custom formats stored somewhere else by Dx4win and not in the
dx4win.lab file?

enough in the label printing process to realize that Dx4win allows you to

[Dx4win] Buckmaster Ham Call error

I'm trying to setup Buckmaster as the External Data for call sign lookup.
Right now I am just trying to read the data from the CD-ROM. When I hit F3,
the callsign/Mgr lookup window says Buckmaster Error -2. Can someone help
out here, please?

BTW, the callsign lookup was working FB with QRZ.
