[Dx4win] Icom IC-7800 rig file

2010-12-26 Thread Peter Bacon
I see that Icom has updated the firmware for the IC-7800 to ver 2.30.
The new firmware include the long awaited ability to read split frequencies.
Has anyone figured out how to implement this in the DX4Win rig file/

Guy,
Thanks for looking. I suspect that similar firmware upgrades will be made
available for other Icom rigs in the coming weeks, so there will be a lot of
interest in having Paul look at what will need implementing in DX4win to
support reading split frequencies across a wide range of Icom transceivers.

Well Peter,
It looks not that simple.
I compared the cat commands from the original release and what is changed in
the new release There are no new CI-V commands added Cmd 0F 00/01 is changed
from split off/on to read split setting 00/01 = off/on.

Cmd 1C is completely changed to what DX4WIN probably can to read the split
freq but the previous value-check for cmd 1C was never used in DX4WIN.
They were used to check if you were in RX/TX or to read the antenna tuner.
Think we have to wait after a solution from Paul

Guy
It must be possible to implement as I saw that an update to DXLab has
been released yesterday to support this split feature. The firmware
has also been released in readiness for Icom's forthcoming RS-BA1 IP
Remote Control Software which looks very interesting.

Quoting ON4AOI on4...@skynet.be:

Peter not quite sure about that,
Have been asking ICOM for many years to add it
And 95% of the time they even didn´t answer my mails.

Last year when I was in F´hafen I was lucky to
Meet a staff member of Icom (Ja) who I explained
Again the WHY and how they handle emails

1 week later I got this mail

 Dear Mr. Guy,

I’ve just got an answer regarding readout of the VFO B via PC / CI-V .
 Unfortunately, it’s a negative response.
For reasons of compatibility with other devices without a second VFO, ICOM
Inc did not (and will not) include this function.
We are sorry, but we cannot give you any other information.

Another thing is that we suspect the new doc is incorrect
Command 0F (split on/off) is still working like b4 but in the doc is marked
 Read Split setting
Nothing is mentioned about setting it anymore,
 Confusing ..

[Dx4win] Editing RIG files

2008-11-12 Thread Peter Bacon
Can somebody point me to where I can find a detailed description of how to
edit the rig files in DX4WIN.

I am not happy with the way DX4WIN controls my Elecraft K3 when I click on a
spot. Sometimes the K3 switches band and not mode. Other times the K3 sets
the filters to the narrowest bandwidth. So I would like to see if I can
tweak the RIG file to improve the performance. Note I am using the latest
version of DX4WIN with the latest version of the K3 RIG file.

Hi Dave,
I (and also Paul) know that there is a problem
in 7.01 with the LPT output.
It changes the band data outputs when spots arrive
If they are on another band.
This is fixed and other things in the current beta release

But if you get a error message saying HEX 14
I really don't know what that can be, never saw that.

Can you make a printscreen of it and send it to me in jpg ?

I am running DX4WIN Ver 7.01 on windows XP.
Using trying to use LPT1 as the band decoder output.
LPT1 respondes correctly, but after 10 or 15 sec, LPT1 switches to HEX 14.
Is that how it is suposed to work, or do I have a computer problem?

[Dx4win] IC781 Address

2003-09-09 Thread Peter Bacon
Stu
It is very straight forward. In DX4WIN set the address to 26 and baud
rate to 1200. These assume you have the default settings on your 781,
which can be checked through the rig's screen.

Is anybody out there operate DX4WIN using an Icom IC781?

If so, can you tell me what the radio address is so I can change it in
the
preferences.

Should I use just ICOM for the radio type in the preferences or use the
IC781 for the radio type?

Is there anything unique I need to know or is everything else pretty
much
basic?

Thanks,

In summary, iIt appears that you can use the regular Kenwood settings
for the Elecraft K2 and it should work just fine.
