Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly
Hi Ken and the fellows... To satisfy my curiosity, please enter W5ADC into your DX4WIN and see if it results in an instant shut-down. I don't believe this ... in my case ... is a .dll related problem. I am using DX4WIN version 7.03.16 with RAC installed in the HD to look for callsigns. I have no problem entering W5ADC or any W5A... call. I also think the problem is with the Hamcall new .dll. 73 de Isidro, EA8NQ E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (remove the _ ) Visit the EA8NQ's web page (in Spanish): http://ea8nq.ure.es/ ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

[Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly (Jay Hainline)
Jay, I have the same problem and I have communicated with the DX4WIN Guru's. I was told this results when there is too much information to be imported into the Call Sign/Mgr lookup box. Since I also include data from the GOLIST when I hit F3, apparently I make the problem worse although it only happens to me about once every hundred QSO's. It definitely occurs only with certain call signs, but it occurs every time I enter those call signs. I was told there is no easy fix for this. I suggested that a change be made such that the program refuses to accept too much data, but the action does not crash the program. I never heard anything back on my suggestion. As a self defense mechanism, I never hit F3 without first doing an ALT S, At least this keeps me from losing any data. I am hopeful that we will see a fix in the annual Dayton release of an update for the program. 73, Mike, W2OO ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

I am still having trouble occasionally with DX4WIN crashing and closing when entering certain callsigns into the log in real time. I use Buckmaster CD with the F3 call lookup window open and something about certain callsigns makes the program crash. I had just entered N7HRO into the log and it crashed. I hope DX4WIN fixes this bad bug. Jay Hainline KA9CFD EN40om Colchester, IL ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

[Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly
Hello All, I've also been puzzled/plagued by this problem, and with discussion and help from Jim, AD1C it's been determined that my particular issue was/is related to a special call that's in the database and only for a certain time period. If I enter W5ADC the program will instantly close and will require rebooting. As it turns out, there is a W5A special call that is valid from a particular date forward. My W5ADC entries date from the 50's and when program looks for W5A it isn't smart enough to continue with the DC and crashes. (;-). The fix in my case is to enter W5DC and then back-space and add the A. Perhaps this is the case in your situation. 73! Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly
This got my attention because N7HRO used to live about a mile away from me. Anyway, I did a make believe log entry for him (Add QSO off line) and it logged OK here. I DO NOT use the Buckmaster CD with the F3 call lookup window open. My F3 look ups are linked to the RAC database that I have downloaded from the RAC CD and stored at C:\RAC on my hard drive. I would suspect maybe the problem is due to interaction between DX4WIN and the BUCKMASTER CD. Do you have the option of installing the BUCKMASTER CD data onto the hard drive as you can do with the RAC CD? Maybe worth a try. RE: [Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly
Yes, Buckmaster is on the hard drive. It has to do with the .dll file that DX4WIN uses to look up the database. Something is flawed in it and I hope they correct it. The reason I use Buckmaster is when you buy the CD, you get 6 months of free downloads to keep the database up to date. If others like QRZ or RAC do the same, maybe I will change to them. I would like to know. 73 Jay Jay Hainline KA9CFD EN40om Colchester, IL -Original Message- From: Alan Zack [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, May 03, 2008 22:48 To: Jay Hainline; Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN closing unexpectedly This got my attention because N7HRO used to live about a mile away from me. Thank you all that took the trouble to test entering W5ADC. Since none of you reported trouble, I've just downloaded the latest updates from Buckmaster and now I can enter W5ADC -without- crashing the program. (:- !! Jim, this is with a date of 01/01/51 ... long before the start date of W5A. Maybe it -was- really a .dll problem that Buckmaster has fixed.
