Tom, what exactly happens when you type the F3 key? Does a window at
least come up?

Check the Ext Data settings in your Preferences. Make sure the
callbook type and location are correct.

Re: [Dx4win] F3 and Update QSO button

2009-02-07 Thread Alan Zack
Is the UPDATE QSO button highlighted or grayed out? In my case I get my
QSL info from the GOLIST. When QSL info is available there is a note to
the effect:
QSL info from: C:\GOLIST\GOWIN32.DLL
If the info is there the UPDATE QSO button is highlighted and when
clicked will fill in the State, County, Grid, etc, info. This only works
for US calls.

 Hi Larry -

Thanks for the tip and information, but I must have an option
 somewhere not
set or something. For example, when I type your call into the callsign
field and then hit F3, all of your info is shown in the lookup window,
 but
absolutely nothing in the QSO window gets populated when I hit the
 update
button Still trying to figure out what's going on.

John,

Which fields get updated depends on what information is available in
the
lookup window and what fields are already filled in the QSO window.

For example - using your callsign: Pressing Update QSO populates the
state, county, grid, and name fields. If any of those fields are
already
populated, they are not overwritten.

When a bring up a contact, either old or new, in the QSO window and
hit F3
to open the Callsign /Mgr lookup window, DX4WIN goes to my CD
callsign
database and put the information in the lookup window fine.

Somehow I expected the Update QSO button in the lookup window to
copy the
address, etc., information into the Notes for this Call field in
the QSO
window. This action doesn't occur. Is it supposed to? What does the
Update
button actually update?

[Dx4win] F3 again

2002-12-23 Thread Erik Hyllander
Hello folks,
F3 has worked fine over the years until yesterday. Now when pushing F3, I
get the message 'An exception occured, Invalid file name'. If I then try
another callsign there is no message but the horizontal blue top section of
the QSO window turns grey. I can access the disc directly without problem.

I use RAC and nothing is changed in Preferences.

So, anybody out there have had the same problem? I could definitly use some
good advice, please.

Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year to everybody from a cold Sweden
(-14 Centigrades).

Ralph, I have had some strange, inexplicable behavior with DX4WIN at
times. If all else fails, try reinstalling the program.
