Re: [Dx4win] Moving from XP to Win7 Pro
Mike, Windows 7 ignores the traditional LPT port address assignments, which is likely the source of your problem. You need to use Device Manager to learn the address that Win7 assigned to your card, and then create a PORTMAP.INI file in your /SAVE directory to tell DX4Win where to find it. My file lists 2 LPT cards: " [LPTMAP] LPT1=$E800 LPT2: LPT3=$EC00 " -larry (K8UT) -Original Message- From: Mike Bragassa Sent: Thursday, November 14, 2013 3:06 PM To: DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Moving from XP to Win7 Pro A "gotcha" that I am experiencing: The CW keying will not work. I still haven't been able remedy this. I am told it has to do with developing virtual com-ports. I always used lpt ports. The CW keying will not work. I still haven't been able remedy this. I am told it has to do with developing virtual com-ports. I always used lpt ports. Did you install the LPT driver as shown in the help file? Search for LPT Port Driver in the help. CW keying works just fine with serial ports - both real and USB to serial converters. 73, ... Re: [Dx4win] Moving from XP to Win7 Pro
DX4Win works fine in Win7, but I suggest that you install it at the "C:\" level or create a separate directory like "C:\Ham Programs". Win7 has very tight control on any programs installed into Program Files. 73, John K9EL -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Eric Rosenberg Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 1:00 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Moving from XP to Win7 Pro I'm about to migrate DX4Win 8.05 from my XP machine to a new Win7 Pro machine.
