[Dx4win] Radio timeout without a radio

2014-01-11 Thread Dick NY1E
I was using version 5, I downloaded version 8 and it has a different
setup, the radio and cw are separate selections and seems to work with
the demo. Just waiting for my license key now!

Re: [Dx4win] Radio Timeout

2012-10-12 Thread John Silva N3AM
I run a K3 with Win7, and only get a radio timeout after pressing the
REV button for about 15 seconds. I do not get a radio timeout if I
use the A/B button to hear the split frequency. I'm pretty sure
this was the same when I ran Win XP with the K3 and, before that,
with the TS-850.

Tom,

I do not run Windows 7, but my K3 works great with DX4WIN. I run XP and I
use the K3 X4 file within DX4WIN as my radio file. I log everything in real
time without a problem. Feel free to email direct to discuss in more
detail.

I am running a K3 with DX4WIN, 8.05. Computer is running Windows 7.

When I am working split, going from the listening frequency to the transmit
frequency to hear the pile up, causes the radio to time out. I use the XFC
button to do this. Any ideas?

Re: [Dx4win] Radio Timeout

2012-10-12 Thread Dave Perry, N4QS
John and Tom,

I just confirmed the same behavior with the REV button running XP. My K3
timed out after about 20 seconds. I have a subRX on my K3, so I never use
the REV button when running split. I normally just turn on the subRX and
then listen to both frequencies at the same time. The workaround is to use
the A/B button as John suggests. I wonder if a change to the radio control
file in DX4WIN would fix this time out problem when pressing the REV button.

I just confirmed what John, N3AM, said about timeout when depressing REV for

Hi Tom,

I am not a K3 user, but one work-around is to NOT be in real-time
logging mode (F9) when you do this. Just escape and DX4WIN will show
your last QSO in the QSO window. Just after you have worked the
station, type F9 then log the QSO. I operate this way 99.44% of the
time. The only exception is when I want to engage the Bandmap, which
requires real-time logging to be active. I am also a bit
superstitious, and don't want the call in my log before I've worked
it.

Hi Dave,

From time to time when radio behaves oddly I just reset it. Most of the
time it does fix the problem. Too bad that I haven't yet figured out how to
save the radio sets and have to configure all settings all over again.
