[Dx4win] Splitting a file

2012-05-22 Thread Alan Maslin

Hi...I have been using DX4WIN for quite a while. While using it I had a change
of my call sign but
I just continued to add QSO's to the same data file. (I know..I shouldn't have
done it that way).
Now I'd like to upload to LoTW using both my old call sign and my new one. Is
there a way for me to split the data file
so I can upload the QSO's from my 2 call signs separately? Can I edit an ADIF
file and do it that way? Sorry is this
seems like an elementary question but I'm not sure how to handle this. Thanks,
  Al, N3EA

This is quite simple; but I would recommend that you filter your log, and
set the call signs up as groups, assuming you are talking about USA calls
only??

1) ensure that you have a call sign attached to all of your logs. I would
hope that ion the Group filed in your QSO window, you see Group 1? If not
filter (F8) on whatever number is there, and change it to 1 . It may be
defaulted in preferences to zero.
2) Next assign a group name to Group 1, by using the Filter Edit Group
Names. Use your older call. Also , add a 2nd Group name with your new
call, and make it appear as 002. Close this window.
3) next filter your QSO's for the range with your new call, say 01/01/2012,
only you know that.
4) Then, select the QSO tab, and edit Multiple QSOs operations, and set
Group number, Change all to 002

Then you should be able to filter your log for groups 001 and 002 for your
upload.

I have to dash, I have somewhere to go, but hope that this helps

One way would be to export the whole log for LoTW and assign the appropriate
date range option when you are using TQSL to sign it. Run it twice once
with the range for you old call then again for the new one giving them a
logical name so you know which is which then upload the resulting files to
the appropriate call in LoTW.

Assuming the calls don't overlap in time, you should create a
selection by DATE (don't use group numbers). See this application
