Re: [Dx4win] Update problems

2018-12-15 Thread Tom Doligalski via DX4WIN
The same difficulty occurs when using dx4win to check the lotw adif
confirmation file.

Looks like a good workaround is to add dx4win to the list of applications
allowed controlled folder access.

Re: [Dx4win] Update problems

2018-12-15 Thread Tom Doligalski via DX4WIN
Turns out this is a problem with the fall update of windows 10, which by
default enforces “controlled folder access”. Switch this off (in windows
defender) and the update goes through seamlessly.

I see this with a number of other applications which are denied write access to
necessary folders….

Another “feature”!

[Dx4win] Update problems

2018-12-11 Thread Tom Doligalski via DX4WIN
I updated successfully recently, and just tried to use update again without
success.

Running dx4win 9.0.4.1176 under windows 10.

When I run “check for updates” I now see as error box from dx4win.exe that says
“file access denied”.

After looking through the log, it looks like dx4win is looking for a file at:

C:\users\documernts\dx4w9upd.log

Which is a directory which does NOT exist!

Should be looking at:

C:\users\tom\documents\dx4w9upd.log

(Note the inclusion of a user name, in this case “tom”).

This file is in the correct directory, but in this case from the previous
update. So, it looks like WPdate is trying to write the file to an incorrect
directory.

Anyone else see the same thing?
