[Dx4win] WSJT-X
Above me pay grade. Would it be possible to have DX4WIN listed as a Radio choice in WSJT-X like DX Commander and Ham Radio Deluxe, or does it involve to much. Re: [Dx4win] WSJT-X integration with DX4WIN
Dave N4QS First, thank you for the info on MacroRecorder. I have mine set up and it is working very well. Like yours, it takes now only about two seconds to import the WSJT-X log to DX4WIN. 73, Keith W3KB From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net on behalf of David Perry, N4QS Sent: Sunday, April 25, 2021 4:59 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] WSJT-X integration with DX4WIN Here is a new trick that some of us may already be using. After suggesting to Paul that we needed full integration between WSJT-X and DX4WIN (like is done with MMTTY) for two or three years with no results, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I primarily needed some way to quickly execute the import routine whenever I want to import the adif log file from WSJT-X into DX4WIN. This is especially important during major openings on 6 meters. Just this past week I worked 56 South American stations during a big two hour opening, and I was constantly going through the long routine of importing the WSJT-X log into DX4WIN by hand. I have done this hundreds if not thousands of times over the past three years. I often want to import a 6M FT8 QSO quickly into DX4WIN so that I can then immediately send a spot using the Alt A routine. I also want to confirm if I worked the country and or station before and possible do a lookup via QRZ.COM. For the past few weeks, I have been playing with the idea of using some kind of a keystroke or mouse click recorder to record the long series of clicks that are required to import the WSJT-X log file into DX4WIN. I tried two free apps, AutoHotKey and AutoIt, with no success-they were too complicated and I am not a programmer. Yesterday, I stumbled upon an app called Macro Recorder, and I spent the almost $50 to download and try the standard edition. Link to Macro Recorder website: https://www.macrorecorder.com/ Within a few minutes, I successfully recorded a script, edited the script to fine tune it and deployed it on my main logging computer. Now, when I complete a QSO in WSJT-X, instead of clicking on the OK button as it pops up in the Log QSO window, I merely press one key - the Insert key. This immediately triggers a mouse click on the OK button to log the QSO in WSJT-X and then immediately executes the complete series of mouse buttons required to import the WSJT-X ADIF log file into DX4WIN. Presto! The new QSO logged in WSJT-X is immediately imported and entered into DX4WIN. Again, all I now have to do is press the Insert key and the new QSO is logged into WSJT-X and automatically imported into DX4WIN. The whole process takes about one second or two. Progress. The macro appears to work across my dual monitors with no problem, but it does require that you keep all of your open windows for WSJT-X and DX4WIN in the same position. I never move mine. I am not sure if the reflector will allow me to insert an image. I have made a copy of the script as it appears in Macro Recorder in case anyone is interested. If the image does not make it, just email directly and I will send it to you. I might add that when you minimize Macro Recorder, it remains open as a hidden icon. It is always there in the background waiting for me to hit the Insert key. You can assign the hotkey to be any key that you prefer. Someone else may be able to do the same thing with the free apps like AutoHotKey or AutoIt (and there are many others), but I found Macro Recorder to be much friendly and intuitive for a non-programmer like me. And someone may be able to improve and streamline my script. I am new to Macro Recorder and I may be missing a few tricks to make it perform even better. The ultimate and obviously more elegant solution would be for Paul to create a seamless interface between WSJT-X and DX4WIN just like he did for MMTTY many years ago. As we all know, virtually all logging programs today interface with WSjT-X. DX4WIN is one of the few that doesn't. In the meantime, this new macro recorded script is very handy and will help me tremendously during the coming 6 meter E season. Again, if you cannot see the image of the script below, please email me directly and I will sent it to you. Ironically, I would gladly pay $50 for Paul to release a new version of DX4WIN with WSJT-X fully integrated. [Dx4win] FW: DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control
Mark, I use DX4Win and I operate FT8. I run DX4Win, JTDX and WSJT-X at the same time from my TS990 USB port. I use port splitting software called VSPE. It is available at: http://www.eterlogic.com/Products.VSPE.html Any of the three programs can control (change) the frequency of my radio. The VSPE software is very reliable. I also have a Flex radio and Flex radios can create multiple software serial ports, so VSPE software is not needed with a Flex. Others have suggested solutions as well. 73, John K9EL -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Mark Weiss via DX4WIN Sent: Thursday, February 4, 2021 7:43 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control I have used DX4WIN for many years. [Dx4win] FW: DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control
PICTURE Deleted to big Can be asked for via email Hi Mark and others, Depending on your transceiver it can work via different ways. First option is like Jim AD1C suggested via a microHAM device that can control 1 radio via 2 CAT ports I have several of these devices for 15-20 years now and they never failed. There are also software programs that can split the comport into several users (dx4win-wsjtx) but its bulletproof Like the above solution. 3th possibility is for newer transceivers that have comport or CIV and also USB (-comport). Attached is a picture of a demo setup. In this case I have 3 cat controls to 1 radio The radio is a ICOM IC-9700 that has a CIV port and also 2 USB ports. CIV port goes to my Microkeyer 3 and splits the radio into Com5 and Com6 Com 5 = CwSkimmer Com 6 = DX4WIN v9.xx If you don't have a Microham device you still can attach a CIV to serial device (USB) And configure this serialport in DX4WIN For WSJT-X I use the USB connection that gives 2 serial ports Com20 and Com21 (in my setup) WSJTX is connected via COM20 and works like a charm together with DX4WIN at the same time. 73 Guy ON4AOI - OT7K -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Mark Weiss via DX4WIN Sent: Friday, February 5, 2021 1:43 AM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control I have used DX4WIN for many years. Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control
I run DX4WIN and WSJT-X side by side on the screen. However, like you I have never found a way to have both programs get access to the transceiver (CAT Control) at the same time. Yes, I tried the various port sharing and splitting programs with the same results you did. Therefore, I operate in a compromise. With both programs side by side, I use the Stop Radio command in DX4WIN to stop the program from accessing the port (CAT control). DX4WIN and all its other functions are still on the screen, it just isn't accessing the rig. I then use WSJT-X to the full extent with its access to the port and CAT Control. If I want to go on CW or other modes using DX4WIN, I must close WSJT-X completely and then Start Radio on DX4WIN. Unfortunately, there is no similar Stop Radio command in WSJT-X, so I must close the program completely. Yes, it is a compromise but it works for me. JTAlert is logging already direct with : DXLab- HRD - Log4OM - AClog, with this new updating of DX4Win WSJT-X is a MUST In order for JTAlert to log directly to D4Win, you will need to convince Laurie, VK3AMA to add that capability. To do so, he requires two things - a documented API for inserting a QSO into the log and API for reading the log database (to confirm the QSO has been logged, to scan the log for "QSO B4" and to scan the log to update the JTAlert "Need" list). The best way to accomplish this is for the developer to contact Laurie directly and work out the details between themselves. 73, ...
