Re: [Dx4win] Packet Window gone...

2019-10-26 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Luis,

If the laptop has a smaller screen than the main computer, that window may
be off
the screen.

To get around this, save the configuration as a text file,
(File | Preferences | File | Write configuration file)

Use Notepad to edit this file

Near the end of the file, look for [W-SPOT] and set the
values for LEFT=0 and TOP=0

Save the file and use it to load the configuration from a text file
(File | Preferences | File | Load configuration file)

The packet window should be visible now

Configuration is the same as in the main PC, but PACKET WINDOW does not

being visible and receiving spots!!
Where is the Packet Window ? :-)

[Dx4win] Packet Window

2015-03-24 Thread n2wk
I recently reinstalled XP on one of my computers and installed DX4WIN on it.
All appears to be working except I cannot bring up the Packet Window.
I have compared all screens to my other working DX4WIN on another computer. I
have all pull down windows working. Even the DX spots window is up.

But no Packet window which is the window that has the list of clusters so one
can hook up to on the internet. The list of clusters is in the Save directory
under DX4WIN.TCP. Any ideas out there? I may have forgot how to bring this
winnow up. I’m using {Regular, TCP/IP for internet, 9600 baud, FL=None
and 8 bits/no parity exactly like my other setup. Other then the packet window
the software is working well.

So your clue that it could be off screen was the right direction.

Just a suggestion Steve. As you have to re-arrange windows to take
advantage of the new bandmap. If screen real-estate is tight you can
minimize the packet window after you connect since all the useful data
appears in the Spot or Announcement window. That's what I do here.

Hi Steve,

The Packet Window did not change in V8. Did you import your
preferences (via .INI file) from V7 to V8? My Packet Window looks
exactly the same in V7 and V8.

Maybe the cluster node you're connecting to is sending out a wider
format. You can set SET/WIDTH to narrow it.

[Dx4win] Packet window colors

2008-03-10 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Alan was looking at the wrong window. He was looking at the Packet Window,
which is not colorized. The DX Spots window (which *is* colorized) was buried
behind it.

He fixed the windows, but is there any way to reset all DX4WIN windows to the
default size/position? He even installed without importing his preferences and
the windows were still on top of each other.

73 - Jim AD1C

--- ALAN BRAUN [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I recently migrated all my old stuff to 7.03.

In doing so, I've found that the color display in the packet window
indicating what's needed what isn't, doesn't work anymore. Everything just
appears in standard black text. A superficial perusal of the setup file
(which I ported over from the old version) doesn't seem to show anything
amiss. The help file talks about using the pop-up menu in the packet window
to set an active award. The only thing that looks right when I do this is the
settings menu, which just brings up the same setup file I've already checked.

What am I doing wrong, and what do I need to do to get colored spots back?

There's a dividing line between the receive and send areas of the

On the outgoing packet window where the commands are typed, my cursor always
disappears below the bottom of the window and I always need to resize the
window to go looking for it. I could not find anything in the documentation
to correct this. This packet window is not full size but about a quarter of
the screens window. How can I prevent this from happening?
thank you.

[Dx4win] Packet window problem

2006-05-17 Thread Bill Clark

I had previously reported a problem with the packed window closing when I
maximized my home page for e-mail and such. I had downloaded just the update
file for the upgrade from Guy's site to keep from doing a complete install for
the -13 fix. When I downloaded and installed the complete install file for the
-14 fix, the problem went away?

If you are using packet, they will be there.

Just use the _ icon in the upper-right corner to make them an icon.

[Dx4win] Packet Window

2005-06-19 Thread n3drk
My packet window is not scrolling. I have to manually scroll it to see the
latest announcements. Where it says Packet Window, in parenthesis, it says
Holding. Does anyone know what that means? And how do I get the Packet Window
to scroll? Does it have to do with each individual cluster or is it something I
have to set within dx4win.

By the way, to all who responded to my multiple posts yesterday the problem
continued until I unsubscribed from the dx4win reflector and resubscribed. The
problem has been resolved. Thanks to all who responded.

Isle of Rockall, IOTA EU-189 was activated last week for the first
time. This was the last unreferenced IOTA in Europe.

Here is how to add it to DX4WIN:

From the main DX4WIN menu, File - Databases - IOTA

Use Control-INSERT to create a new entry. The IOTA will be ?
and the Full name will be ??Name??

Click your mouse twice in the IOTA box, replace ? with
EU189. The entry will be moved down to be the next one after EU188.

Click your mouse twice in the Full name box and replace ??Name??
with Isle of Rockall

Click your mouse twice in the Longitude box and replace 0.00 with -13.7

Click your mouse twice in the Latitude box and replace 0.00 with 57.62

If the entry looks correct, File - Save Changes and Exit

This will be added to Release #21 of the country file.

The INSERT key holds the window. Type the INSERT key again to unhold it.

This is in the manual somewhere.

[Dx4win] Packet Window Rig Control of FT1000MP

2004-10-11 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This weekend I decided to use the packet window of DX4WIN for the first time.
I usually use an internet browser. I use an FT-1000MP. On this rig each band
has
an A channel and a B channel. Each press of the band button toggles between
A and B. I usually keep one of the 2 channels centered in the lower CW
portion
of the band and the other somewhere in the phone portion of the band so I can
easily switch between Phone and CW. The annoying thing I noticed was that this
seems to get screwed up if I double-click on a packet spot so that DX4WIN sets
my VFO frequency. It seems to switch to the other channel then set it to the
desired frequency. It took me awhile to figure out why my A and B channels
were getting screwed up. Does anyone know if there is some configuration
item somewhere that will change this behavior?

[Dx4win] Packet Window Rig Control of FT1000MP

2004-10-11 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If I am using stacking register A right now in the Phone portion of the band
and I have the B stacking register loaded with something in the CW band, then
why
does DX4WIN change the B stacking register next time I click on a spot (or at
least
that's what it appears to do). I would expect it to set the frequency of the
current
stacking register, not switch to the other one and change frequency. I guess I
can
sorta understand why the software programmer may have done that, but it sure
doesn't
match the way I use these registers. If I remember correctly, WriteLog doesn't
seem
to do it this way.

 Kelly,

Your FT1000 and DX4WIN are both working correctly and there is no config
change available. What is happening is by clicking on a spot, that frequency
is being loaded into the memory (one of the two stacking registers) on the
MP.The last frequency the MP is on is left in the register.

2004-10-11 Thread Duane A Calvin
On Ten-Tec and ICOM radios, it switches the frequency on the currently
assigned register. With my Omni VI+ and now with my Orion, I often move
to the band/range (BSR) where the spot is going to point me and then
click the spot. That way I don't screw up the other 3 registers for that
band. Other times I'm in a hurry and just go back and fix it later if it
steps on one of my preferred settings.

Yes, that is the way it used to work. In fact, the size of the send

is tied to this behavior. If not, perhaps it can be either
restored to the
previous behavior, which I prefer over the current way.

[Dx4win] Packet Window

2003-02-09 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Jaime,

That is not related.
I wonder if the dx4win.put in the save sub-directory is read-only.

Something else that I noted, is that now if you exit the program and
restart, the DX spots window is cleared. 5.x didn't do this. I would
prefer to see the spots remain in that window unless cleared. There
are times when you close and restart the programs, i.e. a hard
computer lock, oops I clicked on the [x], etc., and want to see the
spots that were there remain when I restart.

[Dx4win] Packet Window

2003-02-09 Thread Ted Sarah - W8TTS
Interesting. I didn't have that checked in the 5.x version, but I
just tried it in the 6.x version, and now the spots stay in the DX
Spots window.

It just worked for me, after crossing Backup spots they remain I did think
it was a normal behavior of the program.

[Dx4win] Packet Window Weirdness

2002-02-26 Thread Fred W Hoffert
For some reason my packet window started acting up earlier this evening.
For as long as I can remember I could enter a packet line, like a talk
line, hit enter, and the line I just typed would disappear (move up) and
the entry line would be blank, ready for the next line. Now, I type a
line, hit enter and the cursor moves to the next line and eventually out
of sight. Any suggestions on how I get the correct functioning back.

73 and thanks,

Fred/NA2U
