Dear US Ecologists,

We are looking for potential collaboration with a US partner (must be a PI
not a student) to apply for a small grant (up to $150,000) from the new
joint funding program in BSF-NSF.

The Israeli side would be a multi-disciplinary team led by Prof. Pua Bar
(Kutiel) (plant and landscape ecology) at the Department of Geography &
Environmental Science and Prof. Amos Bouskila (behavioural ecology and
herpetology) from Life Sciences at Ben Gurion University, together with Dr.
Elli Groner (entomology and biodiversity) from the Dead-Sea & Arava Science
Center. I am a current PhD student working on the project.

We have an ongoing, long-term biodiversity monitoring project in a coastal
dune reserve in Israel, sampling 4 taxa annually: plants, insects, reptiles
and rodents. We have been conducting experimental dune manipulation to see
if vegetation removal is an effective way to restore mobile dune species
structure and functioning. My current research is testing the
diversity-stability hypothesis by looking at community stability over time
in natural and treated dunes for multiple taxa.

The potential for collaboration is extremely varied given the nature of our
long-term, multi-taxa and multi-disciplinary project, therefore ideas for
directions of a collaborative project are welcome, focusing on any topic
within the broad range of: species distribution and diversity, community
assembly, diversity-stability theory, grazing impacts, restoration ecology,
conservation management, multivariate statistics & modelling, coastal dune
research.

Time is of the essence because the pre-proposal deadline is January 22nd
2015. The main proposal deadline is August 23rd 2015.

If you are interested in collaborating with us, or for more information on
the project please contact myself, or Prof. Pua Bar directly at <

Thanks for you interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
