Dear Colleagues: Is/are there a counterpart of efficiency of conversion of ingested food (ECI) and efficiency of conversion of food digested (ECD) if one only has wet weights? Background follows:
We have *wet* mass of larva on say a day 1, mass (directly measured or estimated via leaf area eaten) of food eaten, and mass of larva on day 2. These we have for 30 or so larvae for one or two days. However, because I was interested in rearing the organism, I did not dry them up, which (as I understand it) is the typical way ECI and ECD are calculated. Do you know if there is/are counterparts of ECI or ECD if one is using wet weights? The reference (below, beginning on page 193) have options but using other index/ces. https://books.google.com/books?id=mcjECQAAQBAJ&pg=PA195&lpg=PA195&dq=eci+ecd+using+wet+weight&source=bl&ots=EjJiYsNU-O&sig=zvYJCulfRX3mu7lIxdcl5AE4V3M&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiDvfCt8_DNAhWDFT4KHSk8A3cQ6AEIHDAA#v=onepage&q=eci%20ecd%20using%20wet%20weight&f=false If you have any constructive suggestion, please email them directly to: blayjo...@gmail.com Gratefully, Jorge Jorge A.
