*Eagle Hill Certificate Programs in the Natural History Sciences* -
Practicing field biologists, as well as graduate and undergraduate
students, have the opportunity to earn an Eagle Hill Natural History
Science Certificate in Botany, Bryology, Lichenology, Mycology, Aquatic
Ecology, or Marine Biology. The certificate program requires the completion
of 6 seminars in one of these fields at Eagle Hill over a number of
summers, and a field research project in collaboration with one of the
Eagle Hill instructors. Those completing the Certificate Program have the
option of preparing a co-authored manuscript from their research project,
which can be submitted to one of the Institute's two scientific journals,
the Northeastern Naturalist or Southeastern Naturalist. These Certificate
Programs serve as a resumé-building opportunity for practicing field
biologists, and as an intensive curriculum enhancement opportunity for
students whose institutions offer a graduate or undergraduate degree in the
natural history sciences, but whose regular course offerings do not include
specialized seminars or publishing opportunities such as those offered at
Eagle Hill.
