A unique Post-doctoral research opportunity is available to work with national EPA research laboratories to improve the science of ecological risk assessment. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking qualified applicants for a population modeling position located in the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL), Ecological Exposure Research Division (EERD), Cincinnati, OH (http://www.epa.gov/eerd). The population modeler will develop methods that integrate multiple layers of spatial information including GIS data and data describing population dynamics into spatially explicit models of population vulnerability and ecological condition. This individual will directly contribute to ongoing projects in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem risk assessment, in addition to exploring new research opportunities. The appointment is for 3 years. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants are expected to have good statistical skills and experience building spatially explicit models. Desirable applicants will have a doctoral degree in the areas of statistics, population biology, landscape ecology or related science disciplines.
