Dear Ecologgers,

I am investigating relation between journal impact factor and number of the
published papers, I will use JCR report produced by SCI database, and would to
know what statistical technique I should use. One published paper said there
exists a correlation between journal impact factor and number of the published
papers. It seems the authors of that paper used Pearson or Sperman correlation
technique. What makes me feel unapproriate is that impact factor and the
number of the published papers are not two independent variables, thus I do not
think it approriate to use Pearson or Sperman correlation technique to test
the relationship, but I do not know how to test it. Anyone can tell me?

Thanks so much.
