Director of Science Job Announcement

Organizational Overview

People For Puget Sound, a respected environmental organization =20
dedicated to the protection and restoration of Puget Sound and the =20
Northwest Straits, seeks an experienced, qualified scientist to =20
provide Soundwide leadership on restoration of the health of Puget =20
Sound.

To protect Puget Sound and restore its waters and beaches, thousands =20
of Washingtonians turn to People For Puget Sound. For 15 years, =20
People For Puget Sound has been the leading citizen organization =20
working to protect our region=92s greatest jewel. Its staff and =20
volunteers work to clean up beaches, protect and restore habitat, =20
prevent oil spills, and educate children.

Now is a particularly exciting time for People For Puget Sound =20
because of a new Washington state initiative to restore the Sound=92s =20=

health by 2020=97the Puget Sound Partnership. The Partnership and the =20=

public look to People For Puget Sound to provide credible, =20
scientifically valid proposals and critiques that will help move this =20=

effort forward, countering the many pressures to retain the status quo.

People for Puget Sound has more than 5,000 member household members, =20
a highly engaged volunteer leadership corps and a staff of 28 in =20
three offices. The organization has a $2.2 million budget, a $1 =20

sources, mostly individuals and foundations.
