A postdoctoral position in molecular ecology is available in the Çağan
Şekercioğlu research group in the Department of Molecular Biology and
Genetics at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey for highly-motivated
biologists experienced in working independently. The applicant should have
a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, preferably with expertise in the fields
of molecular ecology, phylogeography or phylogenetics. Background in
standard wet lab techniques, such as DNA purification, PCR and NGS, and
experience in working with substandard tissue samples is desirable. Field
research experience is a plus.

The successful candidate is expected to:

• Lead and supervise research on the identification of species and
individuals of birds and mammals from feather, scat, and other tissue
samples using molecular methods.

• Prepare peer-reviewed publications, grant proposals and conference
presentations.

• Mentor a Ph.D. student in the project.

• Collaborate with the other scientists in the project.

• Participate in ornithology, mammal ecology and population biology
fieldwork in Turkey.



This is a full-time postdoctoral position for 2 years, with the possibility
of extension. The salary will depend on the experience of the candidate. Koç
University benefits include free housing and meal support. The expected
