Northland College, an environmentally focused liberal arts college on 
the beautiful shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin, invites qualified 
educators to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in 
geology.

The College is seeking a surficial geologist who is dedicated to quality 
undergraduate education and involving students in research. The 
successful candidate will teach six courses per year, including Physical 
Geology, Landforms, Hydrology, Senior Capstone Research/Senior Seminar, 
and two other courses (possibly Glacial Geology) to be chosen by the 
candidate in consultation with the environmental sciences faculty.

These courses will support the College’s liberal education program as 
well as major programs in geology, water science, and natural resources. 
The successful candidate will be expected to offer field-intensive or 
other experiential learning courses during the College’s May Term. The 
Environmental Sciences Department is expanding its use of GIS in 
classes, so experience with GIS/spatial analysis will be a plus.

The successful candidate must be a dynamic educator dedicated to the 
liberal arts and interdisciplinary teaching, and have a demonstrated 
ability to help students at all levels understand and appreciate the 
far-reaching influences of earth processes.

A PhD in geology is required (conferred by August, 2016). The position 
will begin in late August, 2016.
