This January 5th-9th at UMass Boston, I will be running a one week intensive
in Structural Equation Modeling targeting Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. If
you are interested, registration is now open at
http://caps-courses.umb.edu/courses/winter/cr/gr/biol/ All are welcome -
students, faculty, etc. The syllabus is at http://byrneslab.net/teaching/sem/

In the course, we will cover basic path analysis, SEM with covariance matrices,
including latent variable analysis, as well as newer equation-level estimation
approaches that can utilize generalized linear mixed modeling approaches. As
part of the course, you will work with your own data to begin building an SEM
for your own research.

Pre-requisites are a familiarity with linear modeling (linear regression,
multiple
linear regression, mixed models would help). The workshop will be taught by
making extensive use of R. If you only have a passing familiarity with R, there
is
a pre-class tutorial on the website, although it will help immensely to feel
confident in working in R before the course.

I also ask as a prerequisite that you bring a multivariate dataset of some sort
that you’re interested in working with. Students will use their own data during
afternoon labs, and use the final afternoon to present preliminary work.

If you would like to take the course you can register at http://caps-
courses.umb.edu/courses/winter/cr/gr/biol/ and contact me with any
questions.
