Professor of Practice Faculty Position in Microbiology

The Department of Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University
invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure-track assistant professor of
practice faculty position in microbiology to begin August 2018. Upon
satisfactory performance, this position is renewable and eligible for
promotion. The position is 90% teaching and 10% research. Teaching
responsibilities may include lecture and/or laboratory for General
Microbiology, Introductory Microbiology, and Pathogenic Microbiology and
advising undergraduate microbiology majors. We seek applicants whose
primary research interest is in higher education.

Requirements include: An earned Ph.D. in microbiology, science education,
or a related field; ABD applicants will be considered. A demonstrated
ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level as evidenced by
classroom teaching experience; and strong oral, written, and interpersonal
communication skills.

Preferred qualifications include: A demonstrated research focus in science
education; graduate-level coursework in science education; and evidence of
ability to work effectively with a diversity of students, staff, and
faculty, including both women and men and individuals from a variety of
cultural backgrounds.
