Position Description Curates the vertebrate and insect collections of the Department of Biological Sciences. Makes the collections available for appropriate non- destructive uses in teaching and research. Sets up laboratory exercises for the vertebrate and entomological courses. Provides technical support for all faculty members who use these collections in teaching and research. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to curate and maintain a diversity of vertebrate collections. Ability to compile and maintain a collection database. Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing. Sufficient manual dexterity and proficiency with small tools to prepare specimens. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence." Education and Experience Equivalent to three years of academic or professional laboratory experience in vertebrate biology required. BA or BS degree in biological sciences preferred. Additional experience in entomology preferred. Experience preparing specimens for museum collections is desirable.
