This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in the SENR.  The 
incumbent will be 
expected to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program 
focused on 
forest economics, management, and policy. Potential research areas would 
include, but are 
not limited to: timber supply and markets, evaluating tradeoffs among ecosystem 
services, 
forest planning and decision-making, forest ecosystem services markets, and 
natural 
resource modeling.  The successful applicant will build upon current strengths 
in forestry, 
wildlife, and environmental science in SENR, and will help strengthen existing 
collaborations with other departments and colleges at The Ohio State 
University. 
 
Specific expectations and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
• Develop an effective extension program at the state and national level that 
supports 
management of forest resources for a wide range of ecosystem services, 
including timber 
and non-timber outputs.  The candidate is expected to collaborate with existing 
OSU 
Extension programs affiliated with forestry and forest management, including 
the Ohio 
Woodland Stewards program.
 
• Develop a nationally recognized research program in forest economics, policy, 
and 
management.  The incumbent is also expected to seek and obtain external funding 
to 
support their research program and to    publish in peer-reviewed scientific 
journals.
 
• Collaborate with existing forest, wildlife, aquatic science, and other 
research programs at 
Ohio State, particularly addressing economic elements of forestry and natural 
resource 
management or policy issues. 
 
• Teach the undergraduate course in Sustainable Forest Products and a graduate 
level 
course in their area of expertise.  It is expected that the candidate will also 
be actively 
involved with the planning and delivery of the Forestry, Fisheries, and 
Wildlife capstone 
course.
 
• Actively participate in advising and mentoring undergraduate students, 
including honors 
students, as well as assist with advising student organizations.  Advise and 
mentor 
graduate students in the Environment and Natural Resources Graduate Program 
with the 
opportunity to also contribute to graduate education in other related graduate 
degree 
programs at The Ohio State University.
 
• Work collaboratively with other University faculty/personnel, government 
agencies, non-
government organizations, and citizen groups to advance the land grant mission 
of the 
University.
 
• Serve the School, University and professional communities through appropriate 
activities.
 
Salary/Support: 

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.  The Ohio State

Requirements & Qualifications: 
 
Earned Ph.D. with a strong academic background in forest economics with an 
emphasis on 
forest management applications. At least one degree in forestry, natural 
resources 
management or related field is required. Applicants who are willing to engage 
in 
interdisciplinary research on forest policy and management are encouraged to 
apply.  
Those individuals applying at the associate professor level are expected to 
have a record 
of peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding. The successful candidate 
will also 
demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to 
work closely 
with other people.
