Multiple Tenure-Track Positions Announcement - Assistant to Full Professor Coastal Ecosystem Dynamics Group University of Florida
The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at Ast/Aso/Full Professor levels. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of science or engineering. We seek creative, highly productive scientists who have demonstrated innovative research in the areas of coastal hydrodynamics, coastal geotechnical engineering, coastal ecosystem ecology, and/or coastal ecological engineering. The successful candidates will complement an existing group of faculty that is developing the ESSIE Coastal Ecosystem Dynamics Center and graduate program to investigate the complex dynamics of natural and manmade coastal systems. The review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled. Coastal ecosystems sit at the interface between marine and terrestrial environments, and their structure and function are controlled by complicated interactions between hydrodynamic forces, geotechnics of natural and man-made systems, and organisms that biogenically build coastal reefs and wetlands. The mission of the Coastal Ecosystem Dynamics program is to conduct research into the diverse challenges facing coastal ecosystems, infrastructure and communities, while preparing graduate students to be leading engineers, scientists, and scholars in the face of coastal change. Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in one of three areas: 1) coastal turbulence and transport processes, 2) coastal ecohydrology, ecological engineering and ecosystem resilience, and 3) coastal geotechnical engineering. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in and record of interdisciplinary research that aligns with the mission of the Coastal Ecosystem Dynamics Center. Research approaches can include theoretical, numerical, or experimental methods. The successful candidates will be expected to build a strong externally funded research program; provide professional service; teach and develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; and develop research collaborations and synergistic activities with other faculty members of ESSIE, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, and the University of Florida.
