Funding is available from a USDA NIFA grant for a Ph.D. assistantship in entomology in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University. Research will focus on plant/herbivore interactions. This work will involve field, greenhouse, and laboratory trials to quantify resistance to thrips among exotic cotton landraces and identify mechanisms of resistance, with an emphasis on defensive chemistry.
