Job Description:   **This is a limited, unclassified position expected to end 
on October 31, 2015.** 

This position exists to guide and manage the revision of Minnesota?s State
  Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) which addresses the conservation needs of rare,
  declining and stewardship wildlife species. The revision of the Plan will
  include collaborating with internal and external partners at the state,
  regional and national level, implementation of national best practices,
  developing conservation priorities and writing the resulting wildlife action
  plan.  
Minimum Qualifications:   * Bachelor?s degree is required, preferably in 
wildlife conservation, ecology, conservation biology or planning. 

* Three years of professional experience in planning or biological or natural
  resource science fields or a combination of these is required. Experience
  must include work on at least one significant planning effort. 

* An understanding of species and habitat conservation, including complex
  ecological processes (biodiversity, climate change, geology, and hydrology)
  and human environment interactions, that influence species and habitat
  distribution and persistence. 

*Experience in team-building, group process facilitation techniques, and
  meeting design. 

*Writing and report organization skills sufficient to write draft and final
  Plan. 

*Communication skills sufficient to present plans and data and/or to lead
  discussions about specific aspects of planning processes. 

*Ability to develop, select, and use procedures sufficient to solve problems
  and interpret results. 

*Ability to organize and lead diverse internal/external stakeholder teams. 

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders,
  ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which
  involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary
  in carrying out job duties. 

Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross
  vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license.
  Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the a gross combination
  weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.  
Preferred Qualifications:   * Advanced degree 

*Ability to motivate and organize sufficient to direct and manage planning
  projects. 

*Ability to organize and lead diverse internal/external stakeholder teams. 

*Experience in using maps and statistical information including some
  experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and databases. 

*Ability to edit and review diverse technical information into final planning
  and/or administrative reports. 

*Experience in developing and producing professional report layouts. 

*Understanding of statistical methodology sufficient to apply to the planning
  process. 

* Training or certification in project management.
