I'm preparing to teach a seminar which surveys global biomes, but I'd also like to include examples of rare, overlooked, or peculiar habitats.
I'd appreciate any suggestions along those lines, from anywhere in the world--and I recognize this is somewhat subjective, which for my purposes is fine. I'm interested in understudied habitats, especially those of conservation importance, but I'm also more than glad to hear about the personal favorites of field researchers. I'll be teaching the seminar to educated nonscientists, so I'd like to present as varied and engaging a survey as possible, as well as humanizing the experience of fieldwork. Please send suggestions to me off-list, with my thanks in advance, and I'll gladly post a compilation of replies. - J. A.
