Dear list members, The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues as diverse as climate change, migration, smart specialisation and planning, focusing at the sub-national and regional scales and linking to policy making and practice. We have several opportunities (specified below) for PhD students and early career (EC) researchers crossing the interdisciplinary boundaries of economics, geography, political science, planning and sociology. Research Funding We have an EC research grant of up to £10 000 to support a discrete piece of regional studies and/or regional science research by EC researchers (http://www.regionalstudies.org/funding/page/early-career-grant-scheme). RSA Research Networks, with funding of up to £10,000, are formed by members interested in examining an issue that responds to the aims of the Association and is of interest and concern to members as well as non-members. The issue would not necessarily to have a direct policy focus, but the examination would normally lead to policy related conclusions. http://www.regionalstudies.org/funding/page/research-network-grants Awards We also have wards for students and EC (http://www.regionalstudies.org/funding/page/rsa-awards-2018) * Nathaniel Lichfield Award - the nominee must have graduated with a master`s degree within the previous year; * RSA PhD Student Award - the nominee has to be a registered PhD student who has not yet received their certificate; * RSA Routledge Early Career Award - the nominee has to be an early career researcher within five years of the date on their PhD certificate or equivalent. Networking and career development We also hold several conferences every year that have Student and EC career development sessions, with one conference specifically aimed at PhD students and EC researchers (http://www.regionalstudies.org/conferences/conference/student-and-ec-2018). Mentored publishing route Our open access journal, Regional Studies, Regional Science, also has a section specifically devoted to students and EC papers which focuses on publishing short articles from students and EC to make their research accessible to a wider audience. This section offers working with a mentor to get your paper publication ready and all authors selected for this section have the article processing charge (APC) paid by the RSA (http://explore.tandfonline.com/cfp/pgas/rsrs-early-career-papers).
