Apologies for the longish email request to a listserve and apologies for any cross-postings. Is anyone doing any STS-specific work on monopoly and technoscience? Or related work in economic geography? I’m particularly interested in research on ‘Big Tech’, or GAFAM, and the notion that certain technologies are inherently monopolistic, for whatever reason – e.g. network effects. So, analytical work as much as empirical. Some people have already suggested work in innovation studies and earlier STS work on agriculture and IPRs, but I’m interested in more recent research on digital/data technoscience. Especially, anyone doing work on the ‘techlash’.
