Northern Arizona University's Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation 
invites applications for an Assistant Professor position with expertise and a 
research agenda that employs geographic information science to illuminate the 
connections between community design and/or recreation and human health. This 
is a research focused, tenure eligible position with opportunity for 
advancement, beginning in August 2019.

Primary responsibilities are to teach and conduct research on geographic and 
community factors, especially those related to recreation or leisure activities 
that affect human health and well-being, including disparities related to 
economic and social inequalities. The position would be research focused and 
would support the Interdisciplinary Health PhD program in the College of Social 
and Behavioral Science. We seek a scholar who employs digital geographies to 
understand and advance community and public health and well-being. The position 
would have teaching commitments in both the Parks and Recreation Management 
(PRM) and Geographic Science and Community Planning (GSP) programs.
