Ever heard of sociologist Alain Touraine? He is popular in the university lecture circuit and is quoted often in the world press. He claims the big war going on today is about economics. Economics is fighting a battle with political institutions, parliaments, trade unions, social laws, intelectual inquiry, and basic democracy. So far the financial community is winning and everyone else has lost.
This a somewhat unique view is part of something called Neo-Modern ecology. It is discussed in Touraine's books (which i've found difficult to read). It does fit the world news from the alternative press which discusses a large number of issues and separate battles. When viewed as a global war it takes a totally new perspective.
